I remember

Getting an ice cream cone at Thrifty drugs for a nickel.

That Reese's commercial where the people accidentally bump into each other whilst separately eating peanut butter and chocolate.

Dreaming about dying.

Singing Delovely in Musical Theater class in college. I was dreadful.

Extricating myself from the LA Acting School that was run by Scientologists.

Getting drunk the first time. I still can't drink rum. (Unless it's super camouflaged, like in a Mai Tai.)

The 45 of Terry Jack's Seasons in the Sun. It was the first I purchased with my own money.

Our cat, Spam, who died after we paid for a $400 blood transfusion.

Winning $100 on a scratch off ticket.

Attaching playing cards to the spokes of our bicycle so that they would make that sound when you rode.

That was the coolest thing when I was a kid.

    Scientologists are scary folk!

  5. Wow -- I totally forgot about Thrifty drugs and their nickel ice-cream (which later went to 10¢ and then 15¢).

According to an old superstition, if you dream about somebody dying it's supposed to mean that somebody is going to be married.

  8. My friend Tracey liked the song "Season's in the Sun" so much she cried when it was first in the song countdown on New Years Eve that year. Think we were listening to 93KFJ.

  10. what sweet memories. i still have a bunch of 45s, too. i can't make myself part with them, yet i haven't owned a turntable in years. it amazes me that kids can look at them and ask, what's that?

  11. My first 45 was Undercover Angel by Alan O'Day.

While I didn't get drunk on it, I can no longer tolerate gin.

Two great tastes that taste great together. Still my candy of choice.

Playing cards and bicycle spokes. Did you have the plastic colored tubes you could snap on to the spokes as well?

  14. I love the bit about scientologists. How do they do so well? I hear they are actually quite homophobic (well at least L (mo) Ron).

  17. honestly is there anything better than thrify ice cream? i think no. remember how it was like square or i guess not square, but it had corners? i think that greatly increased the taste.

  20. My all time favorite flavor at Thrifty's was Lemon Custard. It was a true lemon ice cream, not sherbet.

My first 45 was American Pie. It was so long that I had to turn the record over in the middle of the song. I think I still have it somewhere.

Slurpee's used to be really cheap too. I always liked Cola.

  21. I was so worried that after you became one of the Best Gay Bloggers you would forget your old admirers, but I should have known better of you.
Too bad they haven't come up with a way to combine Reeses and Rum, two of my favorite things.
And thanks be to Hubbard you made it out of acting school alive.
