So last week when we came to realize that we had to buy a new fridge for the tenants, we went on line and ordered from Home Depot. The next day, we were told the item was "backordered". So I went on foot to shop and found one that could be delivered Wednesday at the earliest. (yesterday) The one I wanted (and which was the same price) had two separate doors for the freezer and fridge components. It, however, was on backorder. The one I then selected had the freezer inside the fridge, which we all know is less desirable. Availability was the deciding factor, and since it was, I bought it.
They delivered the wrong fridge. The one they delivered had no freezer inside. The tenants called. We called the store. They gave us the warehouse number. We called and will now have to wait until Friday or Saturday for them to rectify the error.
In addition, the tenants complained that the fridge would have a freezer inside instead of separate. We have been breaking our backs bending over to lick these kids asses, and this is what you get.
Sometimes, you just can't win.
Couldn't you have given them the fridge you have?
ReplyDeleteYou are moving in the other appartment. Isn't there a big fridge there?
Only a small fridge will fit!
ReplyDeleteTell the "kids": "ok, since you don't like the freezer inside the fridge, we'll give you one without a freezer inside the fridge, namely, one without a freezer altogether."
ReplyDeleteFor crying out loud! For most of my life my parents or I had a fridge with a freezer inside. It is not a big deal. So I have to open 2 doors to get to my ice pops! I burns more calories so I can eat more.
You wanna I come up there and smack them kids silly, Torn?
"Sometimes" you just can't win?!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'd be happy to settle for "sometimes!" LOL
Here's an idea from an old fart who's probably talking out of his ass: Get a small chest freezer to go with the Frig. Problem solved?
ReplyDeleteHmmmm...I don't ever recall seeing a freezer in the fridge.
ReplyDeleteI am going to stop by Home Depot next time I am out. This intrigues me.
can I have a new fridge too?
ReplyDeletePoint out that a fridge without a freezer can hold a body easier, and that they'd best shut the hell up!
ReplyDeleteI thought a lot of rental units in Montreal make the tenants provide their own appliances. They should be so lucky to get whatever fridge you supply them with.
ReplyDeleteDidn't know they still made the freezer in the fridge type
ReplyDeleteThe worst part of this is that it's happening when you're trying to move.
ReplyDeleteTake a few deep breaths.
Imagine yourself in a happy place.
A few more deep breaths.
The move will be over soon and then you'll be able to focus on kicking your tenants' asses, er, I mean, uh, helping your tenants.
You know, I am such a lame tenant that I almost never complain about anything unless it is a clear hazard or absolutely does not work.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, I would be more annoyed at Home Depot than the tenants. How can that many fridges be on backorder?
Yeah, when you rent, you get what you get ... and you like it. They can have a broken fridge, or a new one. Their choice.
ReplyDeleteUnless THEY want to buy the one they want ... and then take it with them when they move out.
You're obviously going thru a lot of stress right now. Do you regularly use any of stress reducer, like meditation, exercise, SM, drugs, or alcohol to help cope? Also, maybe you've already done this, but when things calm down a little, could you give us a description of a typical day in tornwordo's life? I'll bet its hectic even on a normal day.
ReplyDeletejason said what i was going to say, the 'they're lucky to have a fridge at all, given it's montreal' take on things.
ReplyDeletei would also give them a choice, tell them they can have the fridge with a freezer in it, or a fridge with a seperate freezer, but since the fridge with a seperate freezer is on back order they won't be getting a fridge for 3 weeks, up to them.
also, although i'm not sure if it would fit the size requirements or not, but, if you get fed up with home depot and just get your money back, ikea has surprisingly cheap fridges.
The only Refrigerators I have seen that have only one door are the small type made to go in Mobile Homes. Still, renters can't be too choosy. If they don't like it they don't have to live there. Do you want me to come up there? I'll tell them where they can go if they aren't satisfied. They will really need a refrigerator there!
ReplyDeleteThankfully you didn't go to Best Buy to get your fridge.
ReplyDeleteAs you know, they're not known for their exceptional customer service... those bitches.
This is exactly why we didn't buy a building. My husband is a carpenter and very handy. But I had a feeling we'd end up with tenants from the Dark Side who would bitch and moan about every little thing. Who needs it?
ReplyDeleteI would bow down and worship trees in public if I had landlords like you guys. Those people need to move to East Rogers Park in Chicago. I'll even give them a name and address. They will come running back to you, tail between their legs.
I agree with Em. Also, I would like to add that it tastes like shit.
ReplyDeleteTenants = Ass pain.
I'll bet you know which phrase completely captured my attention.
ReplyDeleteThe something about bending over backwards... It conjures a horrifyingly fascinating image that I'm pretty sure is physically impossible. At least I hope it is.
What asshats. This is why people go on shooting sprees. Or at least throw huge temper tantrums.
ReplyDeleteI'd smile sweetly and say, "you're absolutely right. We don't want you to have a fridge you're not happy with. We are removing the current one and as soon as the backordered Home Depot fridge arrives, you'll have exactly what you want. I'm sure that backordered fridge will be here any day now."
ReplyDeleteSee how soon they beg for the freezer in a fridge model.
I had a landlord that did that once. I complained. He told me I was welcomed to buy my own and take it with me when I left. That cured me of complaining, about anything. Ha!! Try it !!
ReplyDeleteIf you're not getting anywhere with Homo Depot, drop me a line. I've got connections and can probably get you talking to the right person at head office.
ReplyDeleteWTF? You rent - you get what you get. Everybody knows that.
