Last night, we went on a sunset dinner cruise as part of the final day of a conference that spouse and his work are participating in/hosting. The other delegates hail from all over the globe and had a chance to visit Montreal during the 4 day conference. Unfortunately for them, it has pretty much done nothing but rain around here.
So what do you do on a sunset dinner cruise when it's pouring down rain? You drink. In fact, you drink copiously since you are trapped in a banquet room with fogged up windows for four long hours. (The following morning one reviews the thinking that led to that decision.) Once the cruise was over, spouse and I took a long walk in the rain down to the village.
Since I'm rarely out after midnight, I suggested we go for a "last one" before taking a cab home. I didn't want to pay a cover charge, but since it was Saturday night, I was probably dreaming. (Why do I have to pay for the right to purchase beverages? I hate this.) Anyway, we went to the downstairs of Parking and were told that if we ventured upstairs, it would cost $4.25. We had a couple of beers (wrong, wrong I'm sure of that now) and then came home. I don't really remember what happened then. I suppose we went to bed.
Hangovers and writing are a poor mix at best.

That 'final one' is always a mistake. I'm nursing a hangover myself this morning.
Yes I had a little hangover this morning too. I had 3 x beers and 2 x Gin & Tonic. The older I get, the less I can take.
Hope you feel better soon!
So have you been taking advantage of? :)
Drink lots of water and eat some protein.
These days, I get a hangover just thinking about having a couple of drinks.
Shhh be vewwy vewwy kwyat, Tornwordo has a hangovah....I don't, only because I ran out of coolers and the beer was all gone!
Sounds like I should be grateful!
I feel your pain. That's all I can say right now. I feel your pain.
:)
Please don't drink and derive!
Why do these cruises always make me claustraphobic? I've never been on a real cruise, but just those river cruises, or take you out on the water things, and they always seem so crowded and there were always bugs on the water. And does drinking on a smaller ship make the movement of the water worse?
We liked Parking. It was opened by one of the best bartenders in the world. He worked the front bar upstairs at La Track for many years. he was the kind of bartender who remembered your drink, even if he didn't see you for several months. Plus, he was so hot.
I had too many Saturday too, first time in ages so I didn't mind the bad head so much!
Well done with the accolades! You deserve it and here's to many more blog a logs!
It couldn't have been that bad of a hangover if you got three paragraphs done...lol
Sober I'll be glad to put a coherant sentence together...
I'm so with you about cover charges - why would one pay to earn the right to pay $7 for drinks?!!!??!
hangovers and writing are are a poor mix. but what is an excellent mix is intoxication and writing. when it's not me doing the writing, that is. next time (no matter how much you swear there won't be a next time. c'mon.) treat us to a little buzzed blogging before the room starts spinning, will ya?
