Sighing, sara and suppositoires(sic)

Everything fell into place yesterday. I landed two more contracts pushing me over my target for the session. And last evening we signed a lease for ND's former apartment and she's moving in tomorrow. If my sigh were an earthquake, it would be of destructive magnitude. Oh and receiving the tax bill and discovering that the taxes only increased by 7 percent was also fabulous news. Solvency, here we come!

Sara has improved so much that she is back to jumping up onto the couch. I used to frown on this behaviour but now it's a barometer of good health. She's on aspirin and glucosamine and it really seems to be working. She does have quite a large cist under her left front leg which we will need to get checked out/drained soon. It doesn't seem to bother her in any way.

Remember that joke I told you about that had spouse and I peeing our pants? Well, it doesn't translate well in English because it turns on a particular Quebecer sarcasticness. (sarcacity?) I filmed him as he told our friend Dan the joke. Good luck on your French listening exercise!

I'm glad to hear your sigh on the apt and on the happier news with Sara!

As for the joke, it was good to see Spouse in action, but... je ne parle pas bien français, so the the "joke was lost on me". LOL! (I may come back and try to work my way through it.)

Yay about the new renter! (I hope she isn't a nude dancer).

Double yay about Sara! Long may she couch jump on the couch. My Molly considers my couch her personal property. She stays off the leather chairs but that couch is hers.

I haven't a clue what Serge was saying but he looked very cute saying it.

  7. Glad to hear Sara is doing well. I hope she continues to move towards being spry.

If I knew even a little French, I would so be looking for jobs in Montréal. Alas, such a goal alludes me as much as the joke.

  8. The only reason I know what was said was the English translation from last week.

I sure liked watching Serge give the punch line.

  10. Congratulations! You're actually o the verge of becoming Landed Gentry. And maybe with a little bit of money to go with it.
I just turned on the vido and gazed at Serge. I think you know that I've had a crush on him like, well, forever.

  13. my favourite part had nothing to do with the joke, it was the tiny words of french interspersed by torn.

you really do have a quebecois accent.

this may not seem remarkable at all because likely you learned french there, but being from ontario many of my bilingual anglophone friends have some butchered 'francais standard' accent because they were taught french by anglophones with butchered 'francais standard' accents.

  14. Glad to hear that you have a new tenant for Nude Dancer's apt. Please tell me you did some sort of credit/background check on New Tenant...

I think Glucosamine is practically a miracle-worker. Our 14-year old beagle woke up paralyzed a while back, due to a problem with a disc in her back. After deciding against an $8,000. operation with only a 50% chance of success, we gave her steroids for a week and glucosamine from that day on, and she has completely recovered! Glad to read that Sara is having a similar success story.

    Hugs,

    Mark

i stumbled through my memory of college french, but even if i didn't speak a word, i loved serge's punchline expressions.
