God is gay

Saw the new Woody Allen flick Friday. It was housekeeper day so I stayed out of the house and debated between Food Inc, Up and Woody's new film "Whatever Works". Though his films seem to have a common theme - life is meaningless so try to enjoy it - I tend to agree with the theme and enjoy watching the excellent actors he peoples his films with. My fave bit of dialogue this time came between an uptight closeted Ed Begley Jr. and a guy he is lamenting lost love with in a bar:

"You're breaking God's law of one man and one woman!"

"God is gay."

"How can you say that!? He made all the mountains and the oceans and the sky and animals and flowers and everything that's beautiful in the world."

"Exactly. He's a decorator."

It got a pretty good laugh out of the audience. If you tend to like his films, you'll like this one and if you don't, you won't because it's got his signature all over it despite his absence on camera.

Yesterday was a rainy day which I love and we stayed in and blobbed around all day. I found someone on Facebook that I had lost touch with five years ago. Yay! I love that part of the whole FB craze. To those who resist jumping on the bandwagon, too bad for you. As I was telling Serge the other day, now I don't have to keep on top of everyone's changing emails or addresses. I've got all my contacts in one place should I need them. You don't have to spend your whole life on there if you don't want to, though I admit it can become somewhat of a timesuck. Anyway the guy I regot in touch with is now married with a two year old. We're going to visit when I'm out in California next week. I leave Tuesday for Vegas baby Vegas and then I'll be in Socal for the following week, my annual visit to see Mom and the gang. It means missing the entirety of the Jazz festival this year, but there's always next year. Have a lovely Sunday peeps.

I'll have to check out the new Woody movie. I love his films. I agree, he "peoples" them well.

I too love FaceBook for the catching up thing. I resisted it for years but glad I finally joined.

California! Again? Didn't you just get back from a cruise too? Man you get around.

That's why I love FB too, finding people you used to know. Then you find a dud and think "Hey, maybe this is why I stopped liking you last time!" ;o) Oh well.

It's raining here and cool so today will be housekeeper day. It's a shame that person is me.

FB - I sent an email to a woman I knew 20 yrs ago, she didn't remember me (tho I don't know why, she had the capability to look at my photos and profile) and she responded with a nasty email. The she remembered me and wrote again, she didn't say anything about being nasty, so I simply deleted the emails and said OH WELL.

i dislike all woody allen films except for "everything you wanted to know about sex but were afraid to ask". that one was funny, though the book was a sort of instructional text type thing.

i was on facebook but have since deleted my account. i'm not a social person to begin with. i liked being linked to people i've gotten to know through blogs as well as a couple of friends, but the rest of those who i allowed to friend me i didn't give a rat's ass about, didn't socialize with, and rarely saw. i didn't want to connect to people from my past. there was generally a reason i let things lapse and i don't want to reconnect.

that said, boy loves it. he's linked to his three cousins, two of whom he only met once when he was under 2 years old. they chat regularly. he also does a lot of social life planning through it with school friends. so for him it works.

Ah yes, Facebook. I've reconnected with a whole branch of the family I'd lost touch with over the years. Down to 3rd cousins even.

Romanovsky & Phillips said it before:

“Just think about the things you’ve seen,
the mountains and oceans and the prairies in
between
Oh, people can’t you see?
It’s obvious to me
That if there is a god, He’s a queen.”
