Sunday morning blather

I broke one of those guitar strings in my neck yesterday. Oh sweet baby christ child on a skewer but it hurts. I woke up a dozen times last night in terrible pain. I don't even know what I did either, I was just finishing my over the head press and *snap* ow ow ow ow ow. I had a lot of trouble, actually, working out yesterday. I hadn't done my routine in three weeks due to the vacation so I really pushed myself. This was probably unwise as I felt little twinges and pangs in my knees and hips and elbows too. Oh how I love aging.

It was a lovely day yesterday - we reached 83 degrees! That's got to be a record (I just checked and it was) for this time of year. This morning we're back to our normal temps in the 50s. I spent a lot of time outside and cleaned up the yard, went to the shopping center and even ate bbq steaks outside on the patio. A little taste of summer way back here in April.

This is my 1250th post and my 300th day without cigarettes. I don't know how many more posts I've got in me but I'd better have many more days without cigs. I am grateful every day for not having to be a slave to the nicodemon. On the family vacay, there were a couple of members who "chew" tobacco. It seems more to me like they are sucking the tobacco but whatever. I asked if they had to "chew" first thing in the morning when they woke up and the answer was a strong affirmative. Same drug, different injection method that's all. Anyway, I really saw the master/slave relationship that nicotine has with all her addicts. So glad to be free of it.

Wow! Coming up on a year without cigarettes! I am so impressed, because I'm married to a former smoker and I saw how difficult it is to quit. He said it was five years before he was not tempted at all to smoke again. Hang in there, sweetie.

Yeah, I'm at the age where my brain says "go" and my body says "what?" Aging has its challenges, but mostly I love who I am now.

You have guitar strings in your neck? I think I must have a timpani drum in my abdomen.

I'm not sure how high our temps got but at one point the outside temperature read 93 when I was getting into the car. It was too hot! And I was running around, doing errands, in jeans and a long sleeve shirt. Not prepared.

I enjoyed reading how you are so proud of being smoke free. I seem to remember the words of MLK: I'm free at last, I'm free at last thank God allmighty I'm free at last! ed

Congrat's on the 300th day! It sounds like vacation was actually a help in that regard, that it strengthened your resolve more than tempted you back into the Nicodemon's clutches.

I'm getting acupuncture finally for one of the guitar strings in my neck that has been hurting since 1991. Theory now is, I probably suffered whiplash back then, and it was never treated. Good times. Yeah, getting old sucks, but it beats the alternative.

has it really been 300 days? sheesh - kinda seems like just yesterday - my how time flies. I can't believe you've done so well. That's really, really great.

The thermometer is reading 83 here at the moment, and I'm planning to get my sugar snap peas planted today.

When my neck is really bad like that, I find that tylenol and a hot water bottle tend to help. And more sleep - being tired only makes the muscle tense up more.

Congrats on 300! I took a few drags off a cigarette when I was in LA and it was a total reminder as to why I don't do it anymore. I just wanted a reminder. I hope that doesn't mean I have to get a new chip or something. It's a nasty habit. Glad it's not one of mine anymore.

Sorry to read about your neck. I'm wincing in sympathy. But a big high five for the almost a year smoke free.

Congrats on 300 days!

And regarding pulling things you didn't know even existed, yes indeed I know that one well. Aging sucks. Nobody will ever tell you that but it does.

BTW, I did the currency conversion on the apartment you're renting, it's about $562 U.S. How come so cheap in Montreal?

I would normally suggest one stretch to stop those niggling tendon pains, but you are already rather bendy. So what will you do?

Congratulations on day 300. I am not having such good luck getting the monkey off my back, but I'm gonna keep trying.

We are currently at 86, but the temp is suppose to take a nosedive this afternoon and thunderstorms are suppose to move in. All in all though it's been great. 2 days of hot weather and I have the sunburn to prove it.

Sorry about the strain. The bad news is it only gets worse as you get older. At 54 everyday at the gym is an adventure.

not so hot here, which is just fine with me. Weird though, that you are warmer than we are out here in California.

Soma is a magic drug for the neck pain. Thing is, you are probably spasming, which is why it hurts like the dickens now.

Don't know if you have the patience to go to the doctor, but if you were here, I'd give you some of mine.

Sorry to hear your neck is hurting.

You're welcome for sending that warm weather to you. After that cold, snowy winter you had, I figured you deserved it.

CONGRATS on 300 days of smokebriety!!!
