This and that

So we went out for a five hour stroll yesterday all over town and there were zillions of people everywhere. It was grand prix weekend, the only formula one race in North America, so the city was swelled with rich rednecks. Plus the world cup soccer tournament was on and the poorer locals spilled out of every bar and tavern in town. Couple that with the various festivals going on and it was just impossible not to have your attention drawn all over the place. Plus perfect weather. We sat and had a little coffee after our legs got tired, here you see my hair getting longer. (I haven't had a proper haircut since before Spain at the end of February) I ordered a double espresso allongé and when we were in Spain it was an Americano but when I thought about how I'd order it in English, I was flummoxed. I'm fairly sure we don't say elongated espresso nor American espresso, so how do you order it? Probably the first time I know how to say something in other languages save my own. Oh and check out the look on that lady's face behind me - it looks like she ate a roach or something, lol.

The reason I took this picture is the precarious air conditioning unit way above the patrons on the terrasse below. It kept dripping too which caused the patrons to look skyward and furrow their brows.

As you can see, I've put back the crow sketch, but with this new template, it automatically puts a white border around all my pictures and I can't figure out how to get it off. Serge and I spent a good half hour yesterday trying to find the key code but we couldn't. I have found others with the same problem, but no solutions to it.

We finished up our walk with a couple drinks on the roof of Sky which was packed. Then we came home and had a lovely shrimp and penne pasta dish out on our patio. Georgie had been a good boy and didn't destroy anything, yay! (Sometimes he gets bitter when we leave him alone and he destroys something.) During the walk, I talked with Serge about getting a fridge and it was clear that we did not agree (at all) about the course of action to take. I just want to get another white one, but he is fixated on one day having all stainless steel appliances. Of course once we have them all, it will be a fad past its heyday. Nonetheless, he is adamant. I don't agree with paying hundreds more for something that you have to clean even more. Anyway, I don't care who's side you're on, I came up with a solution. I said, how about if I pay the window that got broken at the other place, and you buy whatever you want. A fridge can be had for the same price as the window, but probably not the fridge he wants. He was thrilled with the idea and I patted myself on the back for helping avoid marital discord. I'll take pics once it happens.

The return of the crow!!!!
Is this pester power or what?

It sounds like a good solution to the fridge debate, presumably Serge will be keeping the stainless steel smudge free, apparently baby oil is good!

Not taking sides or anything....but should you end up with a stainless fridge, we have found a product that works great to keep it clean:Organic Orange TKO (it's a super concentrated all-purpose cleaner).
Yes, they do take more care but if there's only the two of you....it's not so bad.

Great solution to the 'potential' martial discord...nice when things workout eh?

So do you think the AC was dripping on the Roach Woman? Now I can see where the weekend's lovely weather went (I already knew why, since I was hosting a New Deck Warming party in the rain) - glad you made the most of it.

Like the new template, but I've always loved your crow. Weird about the frames.

Wow, fancy: my word verif today is "prada".

You guys sound like us when making large purchases. I am not who is who on our side, but we never seem to agree. We mostly disagree on style, not price though.

I've always heard compromise is an important ingredient in a relationship. It's probably why that lady looks like she ate a roach. I'll bet her partner wanted her to eat a dung beetle, instead.

My friend Bruce looks just like Serge. It's like they are twins. Every time you show a pic of Serge I think, "When did Bruce go to Montreal, and how does he know you guys?" After a year of reading your blog you'd think I'd be over it by now, but no.

Thank you for returning the crow sketch. What is its story? I can't recall your ever having told it. BobVT

I'm happy to see the crow sketch, but I hadn't noticed it was gone. Typical of me, though.

Sounds like a lovely weekend.

You seriously have rednecks there? I thought they were all here in Alberta. :o)

When we shop for appliances, it's my department. His department is vehicles, although I get a vote. Basically, it's all about me. Good luck with your fridge struggle! (Stainless steel is so trendy, I voted for white at my house. Plus, SS gets fingerprinty too.)

I like the white borders....makes it look classy! :)

As for the stainless - I disagree, I don't think it will easily go out of style. It's not like it's avocado. We like ours.

I like you with the longer hair!

and YAYZ for the crow back in its proper place!

The hair was the first thing I noticed when I saw that pic.

So what sort of concessions and political crap went down to bring the Grand Prix back? Or did last year's debacle just make the sponsors tuck tail and crawl back? One hopes the latter, but the former is all too common.

stainless steel shows up finger prints and other bits of flotsam that comes with living. a regular white fridge doesn't show such marks and is easier to wipe off and make look clean.

Nice compromise. And stainless steel looks sooo much nicer.

I like your compromise approach. Your little anecdote only continues to prove that your marriage is no different than any other. :)
I see stainless steel appliances and I like the look. We cannot afford them. I know that they take care to keep them looking nice. I wonder as you do that this too will be a fad that will pass.

Good compromise! Although, a little marital discord makes for some fantastic make-up sex!!! (just saying...)

A new fridge could be a good thing. I didn't know how much I'd like it til we splurged on a bottom freezer (the only way to go) and french doors. Love it.

I personally do like the look of the stainless steel appliances, but like you I fear they will soon be out of fashion (not that I am a slave to fashion in any way...)

And regarding your pic: Oh. My. God. -- what's your deal? Do you get better looking by the second or what? Every pic of me looks like I lick the windows on the short bus.

*sigh*

I LOVE that upset woman's face in the first picture behind you!
