This is just outside our place. I went out to shovel the walkway and dig out the car and since the sun was out, I took a little walk around. It's not the biggest snow dump I've seen, but sheesh it seems like it snows 9 days out of 10 this winter. It takes 5 days before the snow gets removed after a big dump like we just had and that will be just in time for the blizzard they are talking about hitting on Monday and Tuesday. One good thing? I don't have any contracts in Timbuktu this session, so I don't need the car at all.
Speaking of work, I finally finished the level 0 kid I've had the last month. Just in time for all the new contracts to start. And it looks like I'm going to be uber-busy, I've already had to turn down offers. Again I say, what recession?
And boy but I've been a sloth lately. I just want to sleep all the time. Even when I wake up in the morning now I don't get up. I stay there for a good hour, sometimes more if I fall back asleep, before I get up. Then while the coffee is brewing, I cozy up on the sofa with the blanket. Used to be that the need for nicotine propelled me out of bed each morning, but no more. Then when it's shower time and I've finished with the washing of the body parts, I sit down and do a "warmy" where I turn up the hot water and relax for several minutes. This was something I used to do as a teenager, only then I really might fall asleep in the shower and my parents would have to bang on the door to wake me up. Now it's just relaxing.

Everything old is new again. The cold snowy winters make us appreciate summer that much more. You say what recession I say what global warming? ed
I always learned to end with a cold shower just to get the blood pumping again.
I totally agree with cuddling up on the sofa, it's the time of year to do that. We're blessed with the weather, it's far too cold of what we're used to [around 0ºC but a windchill of -10ºC], but we don't have snow.
I hear you, brother! We should all move to Arizona. Seriously. Oh and I want to thank you for the Chi-City Mayne link. Did you see the Christmas one where he gave money to the hooker? OMG! I love that guy!
I hope you never stop your blah, blah, blah. I for one enjoy it so much. Thanks for sharing.
We hardly ever get snow here. We're in a band about 100 miles deep that just avoids the snow north and south. But every once in awhile, we get dumped on. I prefer snow to dreary gray cold. Shoveling it is a pain, but it is pretty.
No warmies for me when I was a kid.
Whenever I was in the shower too long my sister would yell upstairs to my mother that I was playing with myself again and making everybody late for school. That beatch...
Warmies are the ONLY reason I even take a shower. They are my reason for living, quite frankly!
Our temps haven't bumped above freezing all January. There is so much snow, I really hope it doesn't melt all in one go. If it does, I am going to need to buy a canoe to get to work.
I share your extra sleeping time. For whatever reason, I can't get myself to wake up at a decent hour in the morning.
Perhaps I'm not visualizing properly (and maybe that's a good thing), but a "warmy" is sort of a bath at the end of the shower? Or am I getting it wrong?
It sure is hard to get out of bed this winter.
i'm sleepy all the time too! it's the time of year...
We are/were supposed to get this big upcoming blizzard too but now they are saying it will track further toward the east coast and maybe, just maybe we will skate through this one with minimal snowfall. We are coming off of our second snowiest Jan. in history here and only 4 inches shy of our normal winter total snowfall with a good two months still to go!
It is now official, I hate winter. Hate it with a burning passion.
The new (Just in the last few years) thing here in old Providence, RI is we get what I call slushies.
Initially they start off as snow, dropping four to six inches of the crap on the ground.
Next it's freezing rain, they full out rain.
Sure, the temps are above freezing but immediately after it rains the temperature plummets turning all that standing water into ice.
I just used 50lbs of rock salt to get the damned ice of a short walkway and the stairs.
I hate this!
My theatre company is facing a $200K+ deficit this year after being in the black for over a decade, because donors and foundations have no money to give. And every day, I learn of another friend or acquaintance who has lost their job.
What recession? Come down for a visit and see.
