Weekend update

It rained all day yesterday. I love days like that because it makes staying home and cozy totally guilt-free. "Shame on you for not going outside on a beautiful sunny weekend day," doesn't apply to days like yesterday. In spite of the rain, we rented the studio apartment that has been advertised for the last two weeks. He's a university student here from France for the next few years. He was very respectful and serious looking and his parents are funding it all. Here's what's funny. Everyone we've shown the apartment to has had to have been prepped first about the smelliness of the apartment. Remember stinkyman lives there. We've had a dozen visits and several interested parties but when we offer the apartment to the interested party they have changed their mind. Except this kid. So when he came over to pay half the first month's rent and sign the lease, I thought he stank. A different stink though. You know there's BO, or pit stench and then there are other body odors. His was the one where you don't wash for a few days but you've nonetheless sweat a few times. It's what I think of as the fermenting sweat smell. I sometimes smell it on kids. At least it wasn't fermenting crotch smell which is only slightly better than the "didn't get it all when I wiped" smell.

Is it time for breakfast?

We're going to the old port today to see an exhibition that our friend is participating in. She's an artist who creates her pieces from recycled junk. It's supposed to be sunny and almost 60 degrees, in other words perfect. Have a lovely Sunday peeps.

Wow, you get up early on Sundays! It's 12:13 pm here and I'm still in bed...

As for the French and their smells, I guess your new tenant just confirmed the prejudice

Gah. Who can eat? Excellent comic timing, BTW. I laughed out loud. Then gagged.

Word verification: cosober. When friends don't drink because you don't.

A handsome young French boy. Oh la la! Half the rent? Most landlords here would require a full rent payment plus a large deposit before signing the lease.
It is going to be 60 here today but very windy. Down to 25 Tuesday night. Possible flurries, yech! ed

So you're saying he smells like a 10y.o. boy? Creepy.

My verification word is "asterags". I don't know what it means, but it sounds like it'd smell funky.

I was just about to have breakfast! Your description of odours was hilarious if nauseating.

Perhaps you can get Lysol to sponsor the apartment...he he he. I'm not a fan of stank, so this would be a huge problem for me. Is it legal in your neck of the woods to advertise for someone who bathes?!?!?!?

Now, damn it Breenlantern, you're gonna make me look less than desireable here....
I was going to say, are you going to think less of me if I tell you that I like a little man smell on a man? Not the "I haven't wiped well enough" thing..just a little somethin' something to let me know you're a man.....yummy.
Plus, were you naked when you were home all day? Much more fun that way

I like the "man smell" too, just not the unbathed-for-a-few-days smell. Unwashed hair, that's the worst. I can't take it.

Some of my students (usually the girls with long hair), haven't quite figured out they need to bathe more often. With the hot weather lately? I've been overdoing the glade air freshener's in my classroom.

There's a difference in my mind between "man smell," fresh from the gym and "decaying man smell," haven't been near a shower in a week.

Glad you're having a nice weekend.

The only 60 were seeing today is wind speed!!! Sheesh! Enjoy your day...it's probably going to be one of the last good ones.

I can't believe that there is an identified smell for, "didn't get it all when I wiped". You traumatize me Mr. Pet Sauce. Heh heh

BTW. I really enjoyed your friend Ida's web site. It was really well done. Enjoy the show!

You know, Torn, there is a whole subset of gay men -and probably straight - that like all those smells.

Even the B.O. ones.

But hey, to each his own.

As for the weather, fall has really not shown its self here in your old home state. LA continues warm and sunny, with no chance of rain. Wild fires, yes. Low humidity, yes. Rain? What is rain?

We had a brief show of fall weather two weeks ago, but since then the LA basin has shown why its so popular.

Still, in theory, this week were suppose to cool down. The beaches and the city are suppose to get below normal temps by midweek, and then by the end, even the IE should see temps only in the upper 60's, low 70's.

Best it can do.

So, will you simply permanently designate this unit as "The Stinky Apartment"??

Your categorizing the sweat scent types is hilarious, but you do get the details about right...or perhaps, ripe.

That's nasty! It must be some European thing - bath once a month whether you need it or not.

I work in a county jail, and I can personally confirm your statements about different body odors. We get them ALL there! :)

Thank goodness I have eaten already. ;-)

"At least it wasn't fermenting crotch smell which is only slightly better." You've had that many encounters with that smell to identify it? Ewwwwwwwwwww!

Hope the excurision to your friend's exhibition was a fun one!

I'd bet he's been staying in a youth hostel for this first 2 months. As I remember it: there's the line-ups for the grotty showers, the $2/2euro loads of laundry which then get stolen, funky mattresses that smell like all the other funky people that have come before...

It's enough to make the most hygenic go for a hobo bath at the sink, hang the shirts out overnight to "air out", and generally hope for the best.

Glad you got the place rented. Hope Stinkman II treats it well.

We lived upstairs from a young woman who was in the states to work for a time, she was from Germany. Bathing wasn't a terribly regular activity for her, evidently. We didn't really know her, just to wave in the parking lot, but occasionally when coming down the outside staircase we'd get a whiff of her if she was on her patio.

Congrats on renting the studio! Hopefully it won't maintain the "stinky studio" monacre.
