Weekend fabulous

Sometimes I think I could be sustained on sunshine and beauty alone. I dragged Serge out to the gardens yesterday as we are having a climatically fabulous weekend.

He made lots of faces before I finally got a good shot of him smiling. He doesn't care so much about the foliage as he's far more interested in architecture.

In fact, he took dozens (more) pictures of the stadium even though he's already rendered in in 3D and put it on Google Earth. I liked this shot with the Olympic rings and the extinguished torch.

Tanless.

The last weekend with trees like this. I'll be back with more fall foliage pics next year.

We are enjoying the long weekend even though we fret over Sara. We realized that if we still lived in our second story loft, Sara would have been euthanized by now. She hasn't been able to navigate stairs for some time now. Last time she almost broke her neck. No way we would have carried a 65 pound dog up and down the stairs three times a day, rain or shine. Here, she can go outside on the patio to do her business, but if we do go for a walk, I have to push and hold her hind legs to come back in (four stairs) or she will attempt it, fail and fall head over rump backwards. She's done that twice so now she's not allowed to try alone.

I watched an interesting video yesterday morning about how "money" comes into existence. Money in the present system really represents debt. The trouble is there is not enough money in existence to cover all the debt plus interest. The only possible endgame is a total collapse. At the end of watching I am convinced that banks should indeed be nationalized as that will be the only possible way to avoid complete disaster, if it is even avoidable.

Better spend it now while it still has value!

I love the fall colors, but my favorite shot here is the tanless one.

Sara may have arthritis. Is she taking meds for her hips? Luckily, there are a lot of options for dogs. My dog has hip dysplasia and will be suffering for it when she ages. She takes chondroitin now. It hurts to watch them hurt, doesn't it.

It hurts to watch anything to do with money these days, too.

It's been an incredible weekend here, too! Glad you were able to get out and enjoy it.

That Olympic stadium always looks wierd, like its being drawn into some space-time warp.

I miss the leaves already.

Derwood is the same as Serge, always making faces!

Poor Sarah. She is lucky she has the two of you.

You always have poor Serge's face pointed at the bright sun when you take his picture!

Don't even get me started on the "money" issue and how reckless the U.S. Fed has been. I never thought I would live to see such incompetence.

Thanks for the photos--they are exciting to see. Fall is simply grand.

Aging--dog or man-is a bitch!

Great pix. Sorry to hear about Sara, it's always hard to make the decision to put down a loved member of the family.

I only wish we could extend that same courtesy to humans. Alas, the religious wingnuts freak out about that.

As to the money thing, I advise you to purchase two things. Well three if you don't have the requisite guns. Ammo and gold.

I'm just happy to see someone actually listens to my recommendations!

Absolutely glorious weekend here too! Currently 82 degrees, unbelievable for mid-Oct. Enjoy it while it lasts.

My parents and I went out to view the fall foliage today as well. The big difference here is that it was accompanied by bear sighings and salmon spawning. A very different experience from enjoying the leaves with the Big O in the background. Different but the same. Vive le Canada!

I, like Serge, really enjoy good architecture. Pretty trees are nice, too. Our trees haven't really started turning yet. Just a few leaves here and there.

Gold, definitely. Ammo and guns have been recommended. What about real estate? Land will be there, and will regain value eventually. In the mean time it gives you a place to live.

Our dog was fading fast, and we were worried about deciding when to put her down. She took that decision out of our hands about 6 weeks ago and died of a heart attack (we think). I wish you well with Sara. Hope she has painless days.

is this the first dog that you have had to "help" walk"??
you will know when it is time, she will be out of it mentally. Until that time hold that tail high!!

and hope you don't squeeze anything out of there!!

miss you

I thought of Sara yesterday as Spouse brought our dog Jordan home from the pet hotel. The vet updated her shots and gave her an annual physical while she was there, and told Spouse Jordan has bad arthritis. He suggests meds. She is still able to climb the stairs, but seems to get slower and slower. I'm glad Sara doesn't have to negotiate the stairs anymore.
