Every time I saw these on TV I wanted one. But since we have a no buying from the TV rule in this house, I never bought any. (In Vancouver there was a "As Seen on TV" store which I browsed.) What a great idea right? I mean you can water your plants for up to 2 weeks which is perfect for vacations and bad memory. (I didn't notice the "up to" until I had the box home.)So can you guess what they don't tell you about the product? It seems to work fine and everything once you get the water into the globe but here's the problem. It takes forever to fill the darn thing because you only have one tiny hole to fill it up with and in order for the air to come out while you fill, it just takes a long time and you waste about 3 gallons of water doing it. Really, I had to laugh as I stood at the sink for five minutes trying to get the water in. Okay, so now you've been warned. But they are kinda pretty, no?

They sell them at Home Depot here. I was thinking of getting one too. But then again I still want a Snuggie with free reading light.
Could you submerge them in a bucket of water and have the water slowly go in them? They certainly are pretty!

yeah, i've seen those and always think they look SO nice....even without the water in them. Or maybe not even in a plant.
I agree about submerging them, perhaps just in the sink? Don't forget to have the bulb at the bottom (I'm just sayin'...). They are certainly lovely.
I'm sure that, sooner or later, the Aqua Globe Filler Pitcher (act now, and get a second Aqua Globe Filler Pitcher at no additional cost: you pay only for shipping and handling) will be available at the same store.
The problem is that you need a way for the air to escape so that there is room for the water in there. If you find a long skinny straw that should do the trick. You are just really making a chimney. You could stick two straws together if one isn't long enough.
My younger son got a pair for my wife at Christmas. She somehow gets the water in fairly easily (trickles the water?), but we are puzzled at how the water feeds the plants at different "speeds" in the two different pots.
Know any hospital workers? Get them to bring home an *unused* foley catheter (or several in different sizes) and attach a funnel. Voila.
I have a couple. They are great when you take off for a long w/e in the summer. Trick: fill the sink with water, globe side down 45 degree angle and they fill up fairly quickly. Cheers. ChristopherYVR
I just have the water on the lowest stream possible and they fill pretty fast. I love them, they are so pretty and useful!
I had never even thought about having to fill those things, but some of the commenters seem to have good tips! They look very pretty in your plants.
Are these made of plastic or glass? They certainly look pretty and shiny.

It cracks me up that you have a No Infomercial Buying rule. When I first saw the aqua globe, I cursed the fact that I couldn't have come up with it. Add it to the list.
I have, however, wished they could make smaller ones for smaller plants. Some of the plants I have would be dwarfed by the watering system.
Hmmm... perhaps I'd better get started on a prototype. Aqua Globe Jr, anyone?

They are pretty! I have wondered, when seeing the ads for them, just how easy it is to fill them. Thanks to your enlightening post and your brilliant commenters I now know. I feel so fulfilled!
I always feared if I had a pot that had fairly dry soil that the globe would probably release too much too soon, particularly if it found an "air pocket" in the soil, leading it to only water 9 days instead of 14 days.
