Snippets

* Favorite Bizarro's of the last season.

* When I was little, I used to hear the war games going on at night in Camp Pendleton. I always thought it was Godzilla out and about. Boom Boom Boom, is he getting closer?

* It got up over 50 degrees yesterday and I was sweating like a pig in my winter coat. Yay, spring jacket time.

* I think I'm going to vote from now on based on the following criteria: would I let this person babysit my kids? (I know I don't have any but still)

* "I'll be long gone before some smart person ever figures out what happened inside this Oval Office." --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., May 12, 2008 (Who knew he was prophetic too?)

* Almost vulgar word verification:

* Two different classes this week told me I was the best English teacher they've ever had. It sure feels good to hear things like that especially since we all teach alone so we don't know how we are perceived compared to others.

* Often times when Serge says "We need this," I quietly insist, "Maybe next year." I figure if we can do without it for a year, we really don't need it after all. (This is how I've scored another year out of our cheap patio furniture.)

* Did you know that ALL men are capable of breastfeeding? It's true.

Congratulations on the student kudos: it's always great to know one's doing a good job and is appreciated!

I like your new voting criteria, but who will you have to vote for? And does possible lactation make someone a better babysitting candidate?

Yay for the great feedback from your students! That says a lot.

LOVE the Humpty Dumpty cartoon

"prick" is almost vulgar but photos of people post-enema showing off their stool is entertainment. Okey dokey.

Bizarro is my favorite cartoonist. I may have already said this before.

I've learned the difference between "need" and "want." I have everything I need. Everything I want wouldn't fit into my 3 1/2 room apartment, and that helps curb my impulses. (Note use of "helps" as opposed to "eliminates")

That bit about men lactating gives me some ideas about which it's better that I don't elaborate.

I'm the Maybe next year person in my house, too. I have to stay strong, though, because my hubs can smell fear. For example, he knows I want a new grill as much as he does, but I keep saying we can't buy one until the new fridge is paid off. I have less and less conviction in my voice every time I say it.

Spring's first whiff of charcoal is gonna be a killer.

I am trying to decide between need and want right now.

Positive student feedback is such a simple thing, but so very, very welcome (and rare).

When I read the men breastfeeding bit two things immediately popped into my head.

The first was the Family Guy episode where Stewie starts sucking on Peters "breast". Priceless.

Then there's when our new nephew took a dive for Keyron's chest. Too funny.

Really? Cuz I've been feeding on Spouse's breasts for years and he has yet to produce any milk.

From his breasts.

I was sweating today in my coat too. I hope this doesn't mean it's going to snow again...

I've had guys TRY on me before, and while they might not have gotten milk - is has gotten them other things!

I am racing in Camp Pendleton next week. I love it except for all the muck on the roads at the tank crossings. Oh, I also like having the Navy Seals cheers us on. Now that is inspiration!

The breastfeeding this is fascinating. No, I didn't know that. I really enjoyed breastfeeding my two biological kids for many reasons. One of my favorite side benefits from breastfeeding is the way it burns calories. I lost weight practically without trying while I was breastfeeding. Sometimes I wish I could do it again just for the metabolism benefits. But I don't want another baby!!

I have noticed that the word verifications are getting more like words. I have gotten some near-words recently. You know, words that would be words if they were read dyslexically.

I used to love Bizarro but I've given up on the newspaper, actually news in general, so I haven't read any of those comics strips in a long time.

I could probably start finding just that comics on line. Thanks for the reminder

Prick? Small miracle.

Awww those student comments must be so flattering. It really is hard to know how you're doing otherwise (except on student evaluation forms, which tend to only get comments from the students with complaints).
