Flakeville

I think we live in flake land. We had five visits lined up yesterday, two were late and three didn't show up at all. We tried something different this weekend, we asked the prospective renters to visit at a convenient time for THEM, and they still don't bother to come. Is it just a pastime like ding dong ditch? Schedule apartment visits and then flake on them? Weird. (In the way discovering a turd in your bed in the morning is weird.)

Would that sunrises would pay the bills. The guy upstairs hasn't paid his rent yet, and with the three empty apartments and flakiness, the fear is all around me looking for a crack in my armor. This usually happens at about three in the morning, when I wake up and upstairs guy decides to do his laundry. My mind swirls with hate and fear and sleep is unreattainable. Today, we have to confront him again.

And that welfare girl? Hey we do have a heart. We set up a time for her to look at the apartment, and you guessed it, she didn't show up. Like Woody Allen said, 90 % of success is showing up.

What's that great French expression? "Tu veux me disposer?"......I have no idea.

As for waking-up with a turd in the bed.....Um, maybe it's just "me," but.........wtf???????????

Gee, it sounds as if your renters are the same guys that I talk to on line and never show. LOL!

Too bad you can't make them put down a refundable "apt. showing deposit" before you schedule. Money usually changes everything.

Like the other commentators, the turd-in-bed thing had me stumped.

Well, the people who aren’t showing up probably found other apartments before they got to your appointment. Still, it would have been nice if they called or something.

Those units will rent – Don’t panic about the money stuff. Chin up, little trooper.

They'll rent, don't worry.
Have you tried billboards in the offices where you work?

Maybe I could post at my office too. Do you have the specs on file?
E-mail them to me. I'll put it up tomorrow.

Just try to relax.

Maybe you guys need a beer. lol
I mean they don't call it Happy hour for nothing.

If your building was in my town, it would be full and you could up the rent every month and people would pay, they are so desperate for housing here. But then you would be an oprortunistic capitalist pig and people (read: I) would talk about you behind your back so maybe that is better than your building isn't here.

I hope it fills with lovely souls and they all pay on time and sleep all night and work all day. That is my hope for you!

Nice to see a little turd talk...was that for ME?!

I'm concerned about your continued sleep problem. No piece of real estate is worth your health. I really hope you soon adjust to your new role and surroundings.

It is probably better to make an exact appointment than to have to wait around all day. Tell them you have others coming to look so they need to decide soon. Is the upstairs guy who does laundry very early in the morning the same guy who is slack on the rent? If so he is trying to intimidate you and use up all the hot water. Wait until he takes a shower then turn on every spigot you can find. Being a Landlord sounds like such fun.

Sounds difficult.

I hope for you smooth sailing and lots of rent money flowing in soon.

Okay, I no longer feel sorry for the woman on welfare.

Have you ever thought about just having rental open houses? put an ad in the paper "Apt for rent, can be seen at such and such date and time." We did that when we rented our house and it really cut to the chase...the folks that show up are the ones that are serious!

I think coffee's got an excellent point. There's a house I want to look at, and I can't get the owners to call me back. So it works both ways.

Boy, freak magnet, I love your profile image. That girl could be me at age 8. Anyway, thanks Tornwordo, for what you wrote on my silly blog. You're a fine person.

people are lazy and unprofessional!

Can't you see that complaining about people who don't turn up for appointments is interfering with their *freedom*? Why the hell should I have to turn up at your place just because I said I would and because you have, consequently, put yourself out to wait around for me? Just realise that we are all have the right to live our lives exactly as takes our fancy and it's only right-wing oppressors who say otherwise.

Okay, I'm just going to sit back and wait for the story about the time you found a turd in your bed...
