Hiccough

This is my haul from yesterday. That hunk of cheese in the middle was $40. But it is simply the best cheese I've ever eaten. And it's only available at the farm where they make it. So I had to buy a big piece.

Ditto with the wines. They are such small operations that they can't produce enough to market the wines on a large scale. So again, you can only get the wines directly from the wineries. I could have sworn I only bought 7 bottles, but I guess I purchased 9. I wonder if they'll taste as good at home.

It was the postcard kind of day, with a fierce blue sky punctuated by cotton candy clouds.
After a few stops, we laid out a picnic amongst the rolling hills and farmland sounds (what's that noise? a goose? turkey? pig? horse? sheep? etc)

Today, I'm back to the grind. Tonight is our farewell dinner together.

I love stuff like those wines and cheese from local, small producers. Around my parts, I love to go to local farm markets (one near us), not only for the fresh produce, but for the home baked pies and home made jams, pickles, etc. There just are not any better in any "regular" store.

I live just north of Amish country. They have markets and restaurants that remind me of years gone by. Driving down the roads on a sunny afternoon and going around the buggies of Amish families is like going back in time.
It looks like a great day in the country. Nine bottles of wine when you thought you only bought seven. Oh, you only live once and life is short. That cheese better be good though, hahaha.

I've never been to a vineyard in Quebec before.

Have you heard of that cheese they make in Quebec where they seal in a keg/cask and then dump it into the St. Lawrence to age for a few months?

I want to try that one.

What kind of cheese is it? Autumn is such a perfect time for wine and cheese picnics. Enjoy your goodbye dinner with your mother.

You were in the Eastern Townships, right? Fantastic area, and the wines are really good. Never had a chance to try the cheese, though. Save me a piece! :)

That must be some serious cheese. I'd still be there....trying to work off the cost of the cheese in some trade out behind the shed.

You like red wine - ergo, you are a smart, talented and witty person. And you like cheese with your wine - even better. Come to our place and we can have one of those "the right wine for each course" meals - I even have a red wines which are recommended for: grouse, another for boars (of course, not having either grouse or boar's - we tend to drink them with mexican food).
