Mini-snippets

* The world Monopoly edition is coming out. Montrealers won the contest and so Montreal has the place of Boardwalk, the priciest property on the board. They are using the St Joseph Oratory as the symbol. (I took this pic last month when I walked four hours to get there.)

* The twenty five most common words in English are: the and a to of I in was that it he you for had is with she has on at have but me my not.

* I wish we could fast forward to the US election day. It has been two years of this nonsense, and now there's no escaping it. Even the BBC and CBC were broadcasting live from the convention. It looks like we will probably have an election here in Canada, once we know, there will be 30 days of campaigning before we go to the polls. So much simpler (and cheaper).

* Did you know Monday was a holiday? Serge and I both "found out" yesterday.

* When Julie announced that it was a live double eviction night (on the show Big Brother), I felt like I did when I heard the ice cream truck coming as a kid. Giddy as all getout.

* Here's where I keep my writing implements. VUBOQ is giving away his hand made pottery and I'm showing how pitiful my pencil holder situation is.

* I've got to be brief today. Class starts in an hour. Ugh. Happy long weekend all.

I do hope you get the pencil holder. Something must be done.

I noticed how often you use common words in English. Spice it up a bit there, man.

My writing implements are contained in a plain glass jar. However, I did see a very fabulous object in a store which is meant to hold mail but can be used for pencils, pens, scissors, etc. It is relatively affordable (under $50) and some day soon it will be mine.

Forgot about Labor Day? Boy, you've been out of the States a long time.

Heh heh...you made me remember visiting Old Montreal back in the early 80s with a church youth group. Standing at St. Joe's, the teenage me looked down at that lawn and wondered just what a huge pain in the ass it must be to mow.

Beautiful, though. Which does not include your pen cup. It's true, something must be done. Torn, do you need a desk organizer telethon?

I'm a geek, but I think getting Boardwalk is cool! I'm thinking my city could get the pitiful station of something like Baltic Avenue.

I think this is the first time I don't want to fast forward to the first Tuesday in November. I want plenty of time for people to get out and work the vote for Obama. I might be asking about one of your apartments if McSame gets in but I can't even go there right now, the thought is too depressing.

Wasn't BB AWESOME last night?! I hope Dan or Memphis wins. I was jumping all over the place when Dan won POV. Sweet!

If you don't win, let me know and I'll craft you up something to hold your stuff in because what you have going on right now is an abomination!

Although I have no desire to see Dan win BB10, he really played it well the last week. And how happy was I that both Michelle and Ollie got played and then booted?!!! I'm pulling for Rennie at this point but Keisha or Memphis wouldn't make me unhappy either.

Yes, this is considered the last one before the kids & company go back to schoool and the summer holidays come to a close. I baked an apple pie for the occasion and plan to eat it in celebration! ;-)

The US election cycle is far too long, but we couldn't do it in the thirty days like Canada. The parliamentary system means that all of your elections are local. The set terms in the US also make for a constant 'running for election' mentality. Are there any national offices in Canada where all the people vote?

I so want to see Michelles face on BB 10 when Ollie not Dan walks into the sequesterd house. Now about Jerry...

I have my pens and pencils in a Tasmanian Devil mug how pitiful is that?

Tell them you're still a citizen of the U.S. and must celebrate Labor day. ed

Personally, I'm happy the election system is the way it is here, I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say how much we love it!!

And, I hope you win, those pencil holders are terrible, the blue and white pot would be much prettier!

I think I'm caught up on my Tornwordo reading now, after three weeks of only sporadic internet access. I won't try to comment on everything, but wanted to say 1) good luck with the government job (though I will miss your posts) 2) congratulations on the smoke-free days and 3) Don't worry about the weight gain. You still look great.
I didn't realize it was a three day weekend in Canada as well. Is it also Labor Day there, or what is the occasion?

It's good to be home, and be able to get my daily dose of Tornwordo again.

What, no Sharpies? What's wrong with you?

I remember visiting that site (St. Joseph Oratory) with Marc years ago. I didn't remember the name, but I recognized it as soon as I saw your photo.

As for the election, if you guys do it in 30 days, how does that leave enough time for high-level bribery and corrupt political deals? You guys in Canada have a lot to learn about disenfranchising the electorate! I would have expected you to remember more of these important principles from your American days! ;)

yeah, I'm with you on the election thing!
