Question of the day

I fell down the stairs yesterday. You know how people "power walk"? Well, I do a mean power fall. Remember the cream pie guy on Sesame street? Always there at the end of whatever number being taught to fall spectacularly with his tray of cream pies. Well, that was me yesterday on the stairs. I was carrying a snow shovel which I also somehow fell on and sliced open my arm. It took my breath away. This occurred as I was heading out to shovel the walkway in front of our building. There were no witnesses (thank gawd). After collecting myself and figuring out how to breathe again, I sat there a few minutes and realized I was not seriously injured.

I stood up and went out the door to shovel the snow and "screeeeeeeeeech...crash" , a major collision occurred on the street right in front of me. Both drivers were okay but their cars? Totalled. And as I shoveled the snow I thought about energy and coincidence. (Was there some energy in the air conspiring against us? Don't be ridiculous, coincidence, that's all. But some say there is no such thing as coincidence. Oh c'mon superstitiousness is silly. Maybe it was a sign? Okay, but what would the sign be telling? Etc.)

So, energy or coincidence?

The more important question for me is your arm. I hope you are attending to it to prevent infection. Sorry to hear of the fall.

As for the energy/coincidence. You can probably hear me in CA cuss out inanimate objects for "not cooperating".

It was telling you to have Serge do the snow shoveling. Your fall could have been worse. I guess your arm wasn't cut too bad if you went ahead and shoveled. Get some Ice Melt and don't be stingy with it, Torn. Then the snow will stay off the walk. There is going to be a lot of snow in February. Now do you see why I hate Winter?

Perhaps a little of both?

I hope you are okay.

I think there must have been strange energy in the air. I'm glad you're okay.

I believe energy and coincidence are not mutually exclusive. The sign could be... snow and ice are slippery! GRIN.

I am just glad you are OK.

LOL@kev!

I do not believe in coincidence.....so, it must have been a strange energy.

It was a sign. You falling is a sign that you need to slow down. Then stepping outside and witnessing an accident is a sign of bigger doom that could occur if you don't adhere to the first "slow down" message.

Or it could just mean that you are human, wiped out and then witnessed bad Canadian winter driving at it's finest. You think so much. If I thought as much as you, my head would explode! heehee!

I'm with Kev on this one.

Snow + Cold + Ice = slippage.

And it hurts so much more when it's cold.

Hope your arm's okay.

As I read your post I was thinking in the corner of my mind that there was an expectation in the air. And this 'bubble' [I'll call it] was there for you to walk into. It would be interesting to see if anyone else had odd nasty stuff happen at the same time.
Would make for wild research.
Hope your arm is ok.

At least the people in the car weren't hurt. Was that coincidence, luck or were they wearing their seatbelts?

falling is the weirdest sensation, is it not? especially the "power fall" of which you speak. i mean, i can be strolling along, and then wham! the next thing i know, i'm looking at the clouds. and as you say, it takes a moment for the brain to make that jump ahead to one's new reality. from standing to sitting. from being carefree to checking for injuries.

me, i'll always vote for believing it's energy because i think... what else is there other than energy, really?

i'm glad you're ok.

are you okay? and i think its coincidence, but if anything like this happens again let us know!

Perhaps a mild subspace disturbance in the area. Or all the neutrinos momentarily started spinning in the same direction and then reverted to their normal state. Or there was a spirit or poltergeist passing through and it had some fun. We'll probably never know in our lifetimes.

In any case, I'm glad you're okay. Hope there's no lasting injuries.

I think it is always both. To choose one over the other is short sighted. And Holy ouch-ness! I hate falling, especially down the stairs, the adrenaline involved can be mind blowing. I will never be a sky diver or bungee jumper for that very reason. Glad you're ok, take nice care of the arm since the shovel is likely not the cleanest surface going. Devo

Energy - or ice - one or the other... hope you are doing OK... take good care of the arm!

I don't believe in "accidents". Perhaps you were being kept out of the vicinity of the car accident?

Energy.

Sounds like your guardian angel was keeping you safe(r). :)

It was pure philosophical validation.

If a Torn falls where there are no witnesses to see him?

Coincidence.

I hate falling. Almost as much as I hate fainting, which I definitely would have done had I "sliced open my arm," regardless of its apparent superficiality. Hope it heals soon and that you don't have many bruises :)

Coincidence! Just like that time I didn't make a guy wear a condom and...oh, wait - no, I'm still standing by coincidence.

It's is never cute when adults fall. And you always feel like an idiot. Too bad we can't be like kids, who take the most insane falls, and then just get up and keep playing.

I think the whole thing was a sign that you all need to stay inside and drink hot chocolate instead of being outside dealing with the damn snow.

Maybe not a message from the universe, but definitely your body saying "slow down, I can't keep up with you." I find if I'm dropping a lot of things or knocking them over, it means I'm trying to go faster than my body can manage. The car crash was a message saying "it could have been worse, count your blessings." I believe in coincidence, but that it is also part of a plan.
