This and that

Whenever I travel, I enjoy reading the local papers and the airline magazines. In the airline magazines, all sorts of useful things are advertised. It reminds me of the Sharper Image, a whole shop full of shiny things that we could all do without. I don't need a fogless shower mirror that plays cd's. Cool trick though.

In the local papers, I enjoy looking at the real estate ads, and then I kick myself for having sold our California property in 2001 which subsequently increased in value threefold. Sometimes I come across an article that interests me and then I cut it out and save it. This time around, it was a piece on Online Music Services. The article talks about many, and since we have this $50 itunes card, I thought I would look for some new music to buy. Well, I haven't even explored them all because I am so transfixed by Pandora. This site (I'm probably the last to know) lets you plug in a song or an artist that you like and then it plays similar songs and styles. You give the choices thumbs up or thumbs down and this helps Pandora choose additional music more wisely. The funny thing is that most of the songs chosen for me are pre 1970, lol.

Who can take the world on with a smile? Yes, the Mary Tyler Moore show song was selected for me, and I think I squealed with delight. Just when I think my gay card is going to be revoked for good, the universe gives me a wink and a nod.

I have the theme song from MTM show (as well as Maude, Bewitched, Beverly Hillbillies, Wonder Woman, etc.) on my iPod. I rarely listen to them on purpose, but they pop up during during "shuffle" and always makes me smile. And sing along.

They're good to toss into a party mix as well.

Just played with Pandora for the first time. Brilliant.

I am the last to know about Pandora. Thanks for keeping me in the loop.

And glad you enjoyed your trip. Great photos (and great looking group of men!)

Actually, it's "Who can Turn the World on with her smile...Who can take a nothing day and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile, well it's you girl and you should know it. With every glance and movement you show it. Love is all around no need to waste it, you can never tell why don't you take it. You just might make it after all!" (first season version)

Thanks, I'm going to give it a try. My problem is I need to learn about new music and get out of the 80's.

Your card will never be revoked.

And you help us take our worlds on with smiles.

Sorry, ed, that was second season. First season: "How will you make it on your own? This world is awfully big, and, girl, this time you are all alone. But it's time you started living. It's time you let someone else do some giving. Love is all around...You might just make it after all."

We are all gay, gay, gay men.

Thank you for placing the Mary Tyler Moore theme song in my mind today. Guess I'll go outside and throw my hat in the air!

This just in: my gay card is safe as well.

Did not know about Pandora either - but I really need to go check this out! Loved her Mustang!

God, it sucks being too busy with work and the invalid BF to read the blogs. You always make me smile! I'm glad to be back here!

One day, I swear I'm going to visit Minneapolis and retrace all of Mary's steps in the opening montage for the show.

I will, however, stop myself from throwing my beret up in the air at the end. [ducks and waits for gay card to be revoked]

The airline magazines are the BEST. If I was rich I would have every single one of those things. They are like infomercials in magazine form. "How have I lived without this in my life?" Awesome.

I'm glad to see you've come through just in the nick of time for the gay renewal. The home office was starting to worry they wouldn't see your renewal this year. Phew!

MTM theme....JUST what I needed to make me smile on the morning of a crappy day! I can see all us gay men all over North America (the world?) humming the tume!

Smiles all around...

(personally, I liked Rhoda better, but MTM theme is much better!)
