There's spouse in action with his tiny ball and those miniature pins.It was a lovely time and as a bonus I got to play with the dog Tigars (not tiger, this is short for petit gars or "little guy" in French) who is just the cutest little schnauzer ever. Then we came back home and got some tools to go over and finish up a couple of tasks over at the triplex. We had new flooring installed in the top unit and we had to do a little finishing on the moulding and the little plates you put down in doorways. This took longer than expected (as always) and required two jaunts to the hardware store. Spouse and I had a bit of a row when he paid over twenty dollars for a box of screws. (He chose them for the fricking color, for chrissakes.) Anyway the flooring came out fabulous, it's this great vinyl product called Trafficmaster Allure. It's the second apartment we've used it in and the results are really impressive.
It looks just like wood, but it's not. Then we finally came home and were too tired to cook, so it was left over ham sandwiches for dinner.

I believe that's called "duckpin bowling" in the US and it's popular for taking the kids bowling (smaller balls easier for smaller people to handle). I have no idea if it's called that in Canada, or what the origin of "duckpin" is though.
That's called duckpin bowling here. We have an alley that's been here for about eighty years. When I went we threw three balls per turn for ten turns. (Maybe the rules change according to region.) Feels odd, though, doesn't it?

The floor looks fab. So Spouse choose style over substance when buying the screws, he must be Gay. I've heard of but never seen Duckpin bowling. When in need of a quick meal I go soup and sandwich at subway. The Broccoli and Cheese soup is delicious. ed

The only way I bowl well is with bumpers. And if I can find a child to take bowling, I'm not afraid to use 'em. The bumpers that is, not the child.
I, too, go ballistic when an enormous amount of money is spent on some sort of tool or hardware when a "reasonable" alternative is available for less. But then that's just my problem for going and trying to be reasonable in the middle of Home Depot. They have shields up against that sort of thing.

I had a friend who used to have the vinyl "wood" flooring. You really wouldn't know it wasn't actual wood.

Up here both the larger and smaller versions are called "quilles" (pins) while apparently some people do make a difference between the two. I've never seen the smaller version before in the Midwest. Here's an explanation I gave a while back and here is a shot of the two versions side by side. I found the smaller version a bit tricky and also was beat (not smoked) by my MIL. That was a bit tough for someone who tends to be good at skill sports.
BTW, the floor looks great.
Never been a good bowler... I always went along for the fun of it and for everyone else's entertainment (laughter). It wasn't unheard of for my finger to get stuck in a ball and I would end up half way down the chute before I would know what was going on!
We've used a ton of laminates for flooring in our units here too... much easier to clean and work with than actual hardwoods and carpets. Not seen the vinyls around here yet... maybe by the next project we will have them as an option as well!

Love the floor! We used it in our kids' bathroom and anyone who doesn't know what it is, automatically assumes it's wood. So easy to install too!

Does Trafficmaster Allure live up to its name? I seriously need some really sturdy flooring in my house. Some days I wish we had concrete floors.
Were those ham sandwiches left-over, or were they sandwiches made with left-over ham. There's a difference. One is good, one is kinda icky. Oh, that would be that chocolate ice cream ham, right? Probably very good.
duckpin bowling is so fun. sadly all of the lanes nearby have gone extinct.
I don't think I have ever seen that game played. I used to bowl when I was younger.
