Autumnal display

I got this great shot as I walked home from work yesterday. Every corner I turned it was like POW with the oranges and reds and yellows. This is peak color week up here and it's just fantastic right now. I'm hoping for little wind in the upcoming days because too much of that always seems to hasten the process from clothed to naked. (For the trees, ahem)

Today's my hideous leave the house at 6am day. I listen to jazz radio and watch the sun threaten to rise as I go out to the burbs against the heavy traffic. It still sucks though because it's 6am.

This comment came in from a post last week concerning the question of "fully formed or pastry bag": Having recently had to make sure keys swallowed by my daughter had actually exited her body, I can tell you that everything is already formed. Think of it as little pellets formed after every meal, squishing against the earlier ones. I'm glad Vee cleared that up for us. Plus it had been awhile since there was a scat reference, and I don't want to let anyone down, lol.

Yes, five entire days without scat. How did we survive?

Great photo, we never get fall down here, well almost never. A cold front is coming thru today and it's getting down to 70. Brrrr, I'm not sure I'll be able to make it.

I hate early mornings. Fall is nice, though.

Beautiful shot. A heavy wind on the weekend has denuded many of our trees. We are a carpet of colour here, now. I need to get out and start raking ... but I'll put that off for a bit because I actually like it that way.

Today is the first day it's supposed to be under 70 degrees.

Ooo... I might have to wear a sweater.

I love the way the leaves change there.

My computer tells me it's 54F in Montreal right now. And if the colours are at their peak in the city, I imagine they must be pretty fabulous here in the countryside, although to my shock I realize I have not gone on a drive yet to see them.

As for scat, you remind me of a pair of landlords I had in MTL... also a longtime married couple, and our conversations en gang almost invariably turned to scat, becoming an in-joke of no small hilarity. :)

Beautiful Autumn picture, Torn. It was in the 90's here but now it is supposed to get only 68 for a high today. Perfect outdoor weather. As my favorite Hoosier poet, James Whitcomb Riley, wrote:
Old October's purt' nigh gone, and the frosts is comin' on little heavier every day--like our hearts is thataway! Leaves is changin' overhead back from green to gray and red, brown and yeller, with their stems loosenin' on the oaks and e'm's; and the balance of the trees gittin' balder every breeze--like the heads we're scratchin' on! Old October's purt' nigh gone.

Torn, you don't want to introduce this poet to your class he wrote in the Southern Indiana dialect that my grandmother used. Some of the words are still common useage here. Like Ust (used) and Onc't (once) Purt nigh (pretty much)

The colours haven't been too impressive here in Toronto.

Love the Fall colors. A great shot with the alternating colors. Thanks for sharing! Must have been good urban planning. ;-)

I fear not too many fall colors will be by Chicagoland this year. We're getting into our prime and the leaves are dying faster than they are changing colors. :-(

That is gorgeous! I don't know if we will see much of a display this year since we had NO rain for the entire summer.

Yes, Vee, thanks so much for that.

I'm gonna keep looking at the pretty leaves to get the poo thoughts out of my head.

Nice trees. Also, what a great pic of you and Serge, below. If you guys weren't gay and all, you could get knee-deep in female ass.

I don't mean to be crude.

LOL @ LBB!!

Our trees are naked here finally. I've already done leaves twice and there are a billion more on the ground now. I can never wait until they are all down before I start. It's like crumbs on a carpet for me! The week of colors is worth the hard work later.

*sigh* I have to drive for 3 hours to see 'fall foliage'. Damn Desert.
