The bedroom

Lewis invited bloggers to show their bedrooms. I didn't want to, but I'm lazy blogging so I've relented. I'm showing our bedroom. It's pathetic I know. We need new everything. But we did buy new sheets on the weekend and they are divine. Nothing like new sheets to sleep on/in, whatever. I've got the alarm clock on my side with my weather radio and discman, which I last used last year with a meditation CD. One day I knocked it off the side table and the disc got scratched. I've pretty much only dusted it since, and there it has sat. The comforter is down filled, which is probably my favorite thing about the bedroom. And there is absolutely nothing under the bed. Just so you know.

By the way, and I'm speaking from recent experience here, the one thing you can say in company that is sure to rivet everyone's attention to you is: "Were you a virgin when you got married?" And no, it was not I who posed the question. But I was all ears.

I'm impressed with your bedroom. It's so uncluttered. Unless of course you have piles of clothes offscreen.

I actually like plain and simple bedrooms, and I am insanely jealous that there is nothing underneath the bed. So far in the new house, we have nothing there, but I know it is just too great a temptation for someone else in the household.

i think it is a lovely bedroom. if you made or bought something to hang on that big beautiful wall behind the bed it would be perfect.

Your Bedroom is so neat and orderly. Nothing under the bed. I'm so jealous.
Who would have the nerve to ask a new bride if she was a virgin when she got married? Isn't it funny that nobody asks the man if he was a virgin?

It looks so Spartan, almost unlived in. Although the color of the sheets is pretty freaking cool!! Red for passion, right?

HUGS....

I'll try that question at my next family gathering. ;)

my daughter has that duvet cover - I love it! I love the hardwood in the bedroom - looks so clean!

My partner regularly asks people at parties if, after 10 years of marriage, they still do it. That sure is a nice converstaion starter.

We have the same duvet cover (as have many millions of other IKEA customers). And under our bed is a dog. And her blanket and sheepskin.

I love the colors of the comforter. And your walls are similar to mine, content-wise. Hardwood flooring is hard to wake up to on cold mornings, but it acts as a good eye-opener. For me to get a photo of my entire bed, I think I would have to stand in the hallway.

I'm going to do this one!

Oh and the virgin question? My uncle told my dad when I got married that he "wouldn't pay a dime for a white wedding dress for me" (Darin and I lived together for two years first) Thankfully, my dad didn't care and bought the dress anyway. I'm still pissed off by the comment though. I mean, I was trampy waaaaay before I ever got the guy but no one said anything about it THEN! (LOL!)

I think your bedroom is very nice. Of course, everyone's bedroom is nicer than mine since most actually have a bed frame and headboard on which to place their mattresses.

In my opinion, the "virgin" question is code for "I would like you to politely ask me to leave this party now and never return." That is NO ONE'S business.

Well, Torn, were you a virgin when you got married?

lovely, but you need some paint on those walls... got a guestroom, i'll come up and do it... i love to paint, i feel like that's all i've been doing this year, and my bedroom is a disaster still from last years faux finish that took me 3 weeks and when i was done, hated it!!!! it does look like leather though, it's just too dark... damn ralph lauren..

Is it still premarital sex if you don't intend to get married?

The comforter looks positively autumnal? Do you change the comforter by the season? If so, that's cool. My wife also has a habit of changing bedroom sets. When she changes our bedroom set she retires it to the guest room.

At least you don't have a frilly dustruffle.

Hey! Boy's comforter cover! Also, I want to know who asked that question. A close relative?

I Love my down duvet, too. But the thing I love about my bed most, is the leather headboard. By the way, that's the nicest cave I ever saw!

Its nice that your bedroom isn't cluttered. My spouse never puts anything away so I must constantly follow behind and do it or our bedroom would be cluttered and junky.

You need a nice, modern painting for the wall above your bed. I am an amateur painter. You can see some of my paintings at www.myspace.com/singjaz. If you like my 'style' I could do one for you. But then you'd have to take an 'after' photo once you've hung it.

That virgin question is completely rude. No one should ask that, and no one should answer it either. If asked, I would smile sweetly and say something like "Didn't your parents teach you its rude to ask personal questions like that?"

Mark :-)

It's not pathetic, it's SPARE!

A bedroom is meant to sleep in. Yours is almost hotel-room-ish in its spare-ness.

(Many invented words used in this comment.)

I was a virgin when I got married, except for Glenn, and Quinn.
And there was that other guy...We never exchanged names. We sort of skipped that part and started exchanging other stuff.
