Rainy monday morning

The remnants of Ike are passing overhead this morning. We got Gustaf this way too. All muggy and rainy and hot. I insisted on the AC last night, though it took some superinsisting. The winds are really howling too, the sunflower is bent over so that the flower is scraping the ground. They do seem to have one big flaw - being top-heavy.

What do you suppose our big flaw is? I've heard desire, I've heard ego, I've heard consciousness. Sometimes when I get up in the morning, I think it must be our spine.

Already I've seen two people have their umbrellas flip inside out on them. It really is folly to try to use an umbrella since the rain is falling sideways with the wind. Once I bought an "unbreakable" umbrella, I can't remember what it was called, something like the "wind avenger". It broke, naturally.

There's a weird mystery going on here. We didn't leave the house yesterday and spent most of it in the computer room where we can both be Gladys Kravitz and monitor the comings and goings in the building. Well the guy downstairs who hasn't quite finished paying this month's rent and who has had several bizarre stories as to why not (in hospital, don't know why as he was found asleep in his car in front of the video store, had his identity stolen and they drained five grand from his bank account, needs to go to Toronto to get the money - he was supposed to go Tues, then Thurs, then Saturday but he hasn't gone yet) and this morning his car is parked out front with one of the windows down. Yesterday he made several trips out to his car with his tv and boxes of things. Hmmm. His car is empty now though. Serge thinks he went to the pawn shop. I think he's planning to flee. Frankly, I'm hoping for the latter.

I frequently do not know enough to come in out of the rain. I've already proven that I do not melt, so I enjoy the refreshing free shower. I found that I do dry rather easily.

As for the tenant, I would tend to think "flee."

Wow, that Ike sure is moving fast over land. Hope your days a good one.

AB-ner!!! So, do you have a whole surveillance system that you can monitor online? How's that work?

He's totally fleeing. But I'm cynical.

I play Gladys Kravitz way too much. To the point where Larry has begun answering to "Abner!" Perhaps we should start a GK society.

Get a wooden dowell from Home Depot and stake up the Sunflower with twist ties. Leave it there until the finches have eaten all of the seeds.
It was very windy here yesterday with lots of tree limbs down. My Hummingbird feeder blew out into the lawn and my barrel Cacti was over turned and unpotted.
Unfortunatly, your renter will soon be living in his car. ed

Is it the smelly guy I just know has bodies buried down there? I told you that's where those flies were coming from!

We watched "Bewitched" last night, a later episode in which Tabitha runs away to shrink the giant of "Jack and the Beanstalk" to make him "easier to play with."

I'm not sure that there's a universal big flaw for all humans. For Americans, I'm pretty sure that our big flaw is our failure to embrace poutine.

My flaw is that I'm just too perfect.

For your sake I hope he flees, too. Taking his fleas. Good riddance. He could make a mint writing fiction with those kinds of excuses.

I think most people's flaw is having no spine, so you're lucky to have one.

I think our flaw is being addicted to our selves.

I also think that your tenant is going to flee.

And the price of gas is atrocious. Not that that has anything to do with your post, I'm just telling you what I think.

I think greed is our big flaw. That, and cheap umbrellas.

I couldn't ever flee, so I'm projecting he won't flee.

Our flaw, complacency. Do something if you don't like it! Anyway, I loved Mrs. Kravitz but loved Aunt Clara more.
I think he will flee.

I think our big flaw is fear; it drives so much of what we do or don't do.

Yeah, he's running.

Ike was here on Sunday. Branches down everywhere and lots of power outages. That's small stuff compared to elsewhere.

I'm the Serge over here and even I welcomed the a/c last night, this late in the season.

In addition to your writing, I admire your fortitude as a landlord.

My God, TW. Does anybody ever pay you?

Having had some bad housemate experiences, it's usually better to have them flee. As a landlord, it's certainly better than having to go through the legal process to evict them.

Your renter sounds like trouble. I think you are correct, he is bolting.

You have a good week!

Superinsistence... nice.

Fleeing I think, though he has been there awhile, yes? Wasn't he original? Well. It's better than leaving a dead body for you to clean up.

Here in southern DE we escaped the effects of Gustav and Ike. We got a little rain and a little wind, but nothing noteworthy.

Good luck with your tenants!

Mark :-)
