Rambling

This sunflower came up on the edge of our yard. No one planted it, so it is a mystery as to how it came to be there. Since the neighbors dug up their yard in Spring, it just looked like one of many weeds growing until it bloomed this week. I thought it was pretty neat-o so I took a picture of it. The tenants surely think I'm a weirdo.

Boy does a sunflower stand out though. They should call it the "Look at me!" plant. I usually try not to stand out. I figure I already stand out enough due to my height and gayness (and in my more narcissistic moments, cuteness) so I usually try to lie low. The blog notwithstanding of course.

I went and saw that new Coen brothers flick, Burn After Reading. What fun to see such seasoned actors explore these roles. Intelligence is indeed relative as they say in the tag line for the film. It's pretty light on gore for these guys. Merely two murders. Still, they're shocking ones. I hate to say it, but I really liked Brad Pitt's performance.

How come the price of living for you and I is wrinkles and ugliness, but this doesn't hold true for George Clooney and Brad Pitt? Both of these guys are older than me. Brad played a guy in his twenties and he's 45 for chrissake. I don't know if this comes from bitterness but have you noticed that Brad's head is too big for his body? Yeah, check that out next time.

I thought I had some kind of point this morning, but obviously not. We're hunkered down for a rainy day today. I sense puttering and perhaps a trip to Home Depot in our future. Have a lovely Sunday.

Allo,

Brad n'a pas 45 ans mais 44 !
Nous sommes né en décembre de la même année! Lui, 3 jours avant moi!
Donc, il a pigé avant moi dans le grand sac-à-faces...dommage pour moi!!

I planted a few sunflower seeds, but the one currently blooming on our front slope was not one that I planted. Unless, of course, something else moved it to its present location.

I've never understood Brad Pitt's appeal. He's too pretty for me, and his acting has been equal to a cardboard cutout. Meh. (But George Clooney? Oooh.)

I'm going to see "Burn After Reading" this weekend. I'll give you a review. I loved the Coen brothers' "Fargo." I have high hopes.

I had the surprise of sunflower growing in my yard too till I realized it was from the bird seed I had put out.

I just think they use really good skin care products and most of their pics are airbrushed. If I made 20 million a pic, I'd pay someone to come over ever morning and night to rub stuff on my face and to work me out and to airbrush all my pictures. And, I've accepted the fact that I'm going to stand out wherever I go for being too tall or really too gay or perhaps cute too... ha! I like it!! I wouldn't trade being able to see over the crowd for anything.

Oh you city boys. I can tell a Sunflower plant as soon as it breaks through the ground. They are often spread by birds.
Brad Pitt is an ugly cuss. If you see him just send him to me.
Tropical storm Ike is giving us heavy rain and wind. Reminds me of a Carpenter's song: Rainy days and Mondays always get me down. ed

I've provided my neighbours with a couple of sunflowers this summer; from my bird feeder. I had quite a slew of them growing beneath my deck where the feeder is until I had the sod put down. Another few are breaking through now, but they won't have the time to develop before the season is over.

sigh.

Sunflowers are great . . . until you look at their center more closely. Then they suddenly become really creepy to me. Kinda like Brad Pitt.

Hey, I got carded in Saratoga, making a lonesome pub crawl on my own. I'm 46. And my eyes are too close together.

I swear, in the last two weeks, I've seen a MILLION sunflowers. Must be the time of the year. They are everywhere!

I've always thought Brad Pitt had something of an unbalanced look. So it's a big head, huh? Not surprising.

I like the sunflower. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I'm gonna go see that flick. I need spoilers on the murders though.

What is the crap about wrinkles and ugliness. So many old people are beautiful. Mainly the ones who aren't fighting it...

I'm jealous of the rain.

Love me a sunflower, love me a brad, love me a george. Really, what's not to love?

I'm about a year older than Brad (Jan '63) and people are always saying that I couldn't possibly be in my 40's. And tho his character "acted" like he was in his 20's, none too bright that is, when they came in for a close up, you could see Brad's age in this eyes, or at least the wrinkles and sagging flesh below them.

Love sunflowers, hate the plants, look too much like weeds. Those and Black-eye Susan, just never saw the appeal...

Beautiful sunflower! Screw the tenants! I told hubby I think we might try to grow some this summer. Sunflowers that is not tenants. Fingers crossed.

As for Brad and George, you must remember that they have oodles of money to help maintain that beauty. Well that and genetics, but I still think there's an awful lot of hair and makeup work going on and I'm not even going to mention the possibility of some surgical procedures ;)

Torny, I hate to tell you this but long-time smokers tend to almost always prematurely age and/or wrinkle. Hopefully you gave it up just in time! But being a So. Cal. boy, I'm surprised you don't realize that much of what you see on screen is manufactured image. I used to live in a building with some now-famous people and back then, on the elevator they looked no different than you or I.

I guess I'm alone on this, but Brad Pitt could tie me to a bed and ravage me for a week and the smile would never leave my face.

I've only heard negative reviews for the film so glad to hear you enjoyed it. I doubt I'll see it, as I hardly see anything, but I was hoping it would be a good film, as I like the cast.

Love it...the right in your face bloom with the bee busy doing his thing while you're taking the shot!

Love the moment......:_)

I swear it's like those things bloom with the bee already there! How big is this one? The sunflowers were great fun for me this summer.

David, maybe you and I could share Brad on alternate weekends or something...

Big head or not, Brad Pitt can have his wicked way with after he's done with David and Greg (I don't mind sloppy seconds, as long as he showers first)

Make-up, and good lighting. Always worked for me! LOL

That's a great photo of the sunflower!

Aging does NOT equal ugliness. Some people actually look better with age.
