Snippets

* The blog had its 100,000th visit Wednesday morning. Someone from East Lansing Michigan. Patricia perhaps? I would like that.

* The library called - FINALLY! Harry Potter is in my hot little hands (the 5th one).

* I used to regurgitate all the time. My first bf always said it was because I ate too fast. Come to think of it, my mother used to say that too. Anyway, once I stopped milk, the gurging subsided. Once in a while lettuce'll do it though, but then I just feel like a cow, chewin his cud. (Did I gross you out?)

* We live close to a high school. Gaggles of teenagers gather, especially at lunchtime. Yesterday, I had to shoo them off of our lawn. "But we're just practicing jumping," he whined as the others climbed on the (our) little fence. "You can jump somewhere else," I snarled, feeling like grumpy old man.

* Okay, this is funny. I went over to this site and plugged in my info. And then it acted all shocked. Seriously, look at what it said:
You are ranked below the 10th percentile of your job capacity (meaning only a few percentange of people in your job capacity earn less than you) – We strongly advise you to hit BACK and verify your data.

* And here on this other site , you can choose six names that you like and it will suggest other names (for people fretting about baby-naming). A few of the names suggested to me that I might like were Beulah, Clotilde and Hannelore. Hannelore? Are there babies named Hannelore now? Where have I been?

* There's this story I've heard for years that "A duck's quack doesn't echo and no one knows why." Now I see it's an urban myth. A duck's quack does echo, it's just impossible to hear it because of the quality of sound in a "quack". I don't know about you, but if you can't hear the echo, that's pretty much the same as it not echoing don't you think?

* Sara wishes you a fabulous weekend.

Hair-ohh Sara, what a goood doggggie! Yes, you are! Such a nice doggie.
A Duck's quack echoing and not being heard reminds me of the old sage about does a tree falling in a forset make any sound if there is nobody to hear it? Who Cares? lol.

Backatcha, Sara! [kiss]

Don't worry, torn, we all become grumpy old men sooner or later. I'll see you at the weekly meeting. :)

I can't hear the echo between my ears, but I know it's there.

I loved the interaction between you and the youth of today.

The job salary site didn't know what to do with me. My industry (arts/non-profit) wasn't even listed, so I had to pick Healthcare as the closest. And the approximate job title that I chose from their list had no info to match with. They asked me to come back another time when they have more data. Sheesh.

I used to regurge all the time as a kid. Dairy was the killer.

Oooh, the teens will be back now probably. You presented them a challenge. Or maybe not. Keep your eyes peeled. It's the biggest reason I would never live close to a school.

Sara looks beautiful.

What are you doing looking up kid names? Is there something you aren't telling us?

It's too near the weekend to worry about echoing quacks, or are you going quackers?:>)

Going to a talk tomorrow by a guy who worked on the Harry Potter special effects for the films:>)

Have a good un with the ducks and Sara!...and Hannelore!!!!!!

congrats on your 100,000 - actually, I remember as a teen how people would ask us to stop doing things that didn't seem to harm anyone; "we we're just practicing jumping" - now I'm curious, is this a club for the unbalanced, for those who reach teen years and find themselves falling over if they jump - or is this some sort of parkour for teens?

You sound just like me at our earlier house shooing children back onto their own property....but the long list of bicycles, popcicle wrappers, toys and handprints on my front windows continued.....I HATED IT. Yuppers, we're getting old. Oh, and there are children not being taught right from wrong either.....

tornwordo - sorry about the sad stats from the SalaryBase :-(

we're only been introduced to Canada recently so maybe your peers haven't been using us. Anyways - feel free to drop us a line about anything else.

Sara's adorable.

Your salary site said the same thing about me, and I know for a fact I'm not in the bottom 10% of my range. Bunk, I say!

Rather than shooing them away, perhaps you could build a little swingset/jungle gym for them to play on.

And I wish Sara a fabulous weekend as well, full of diggie treats, easily caught cats, and plenty of belly scratching!

HUGS...

Are you actually researching the echo-ing of ducks' quacks. Has the blog block come to this?

And the only people who are naming their kids Hannelore are people who would like their kids to know what it's like to get their asses kicked.

I'm going to the park tomorrow to feed the ducks and hear them echo!

I love the name Beulah, but I couldn't get the site to recommend it to me. Dang.

The part about the teens that I love is that you have grievously injured their feelings. They probably discussed it morosely.

I have so much to do today that I'm sitting on my ass in front of the computer, but I can't call because that would make me feel too guilty. Sigh. Sick, crazy sick.

I'm convinced that Sara is one of the thirtysix hidden saints whose prayers keep the world from falling into chaos and destruction. There's nothing in the rule book that says it can't be a dog.
She's so lovely.
I hope the three of you have a lovely weekend.
hugs,

Oh, and you're only a grumpy old man if you actually pulled out a shotgun loaded with rock salt and threatened to use it on them.

But it's okay to enjoy thinking about it!

I wouldn't worry too much about the numbers from salarybase. I just put in my info--sure in the knowledge that I do okay for my industry and title--and it told me exactly the same thing.

Since I see salary surveys, both regional and national, with data for what I do, I know I'm not in the bottom 10%. Maybe not near the top, either, but they're way off with their claim.
