Day 4

Another stunning day here in the city of light. Here we are on the Champs Elysee with the Arc de Triomphe in the background. This was after we visited the Louvre (free since it was the first Sunday of the month) and saw the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo. We enjoyed another baguette along the Seine as well. Interesting tidbit- the toilets here have two flush handles (buttons actually), one for pee and one for poo. The poo handle really scours the bowl. They also have self cleaning public toilets. I must say the French are more toilet advanced than us.

Okay, YOU are living my dream! You're on my street, doing what I want to do, pooping and peeing where I want to poop and pee.

I'm going to Paris before I die!

Did the Mona Lisa seem small to you?

That is advanced about the toilets.

Only you, Torn, would give us, your readers, evaluations of foreign toilets. LOL!

There's the Poop info we've been looking for. How do you know which button is which? Does it say Push Here for Shit? You look very handsome. Ed

Yes, except for the dog poop.

It is so thrilling to see these snaps and your captions!

"Scours the bowl?" What are those French pooping over there? Looks like the weather is really cooperating with you guys! How fortunate!

Wow, I love the sound of "self-cleaning" toilets! I'd rather vacuum for 2 hours than clean a toilet, so I make Spouse do it.

Mark :-)

All these posts make me want to go to Europe. I'm an easy sell though. Wanderlust seems to be in my blood.

Well, the toilets are modern, but the locals still like to piss in the streets. God bless 'em!

Glad you are enjoying Paris. I was there very briefly today - got the keys to the apartment...much excitement!

Ow sticky, the toilets are like that in Holland, Belgium, Germany and probably half a dozen other countries as well. Not every toilet, but a substantial amount. Isn't that totally environmentally conscious! I love it.

The Mona Lisa seemed small to me and as I tried to take a picture of it, the light reflected off of the bullet proof glass and all I had was a huge flash. ;-( Glad you changed your mind about going to the Louvre, it truly is amazing.

One of the public pay toilets where I went was only a hole with to foot plates on either side of it. I had used one of these when I was in Vietnam and Bangkok so I must have ruined the charladies attempt at embarrassing me with that type of toilet. I guess she didn't think an American would know how to use that toilet. Glad your toilets are of a different variety! ;-)

We're still here, boys! Watching, waiting and more jealous than ever. Happy days and great memories to you both.

Ahhh, the post we all knew would come in time! Will you be having one of those toilets shipped back to Montreal before you get on the ship?

You MUST find one of the toilets that are just a porcelain square in the floor with a hole in it (as butch mentioned). They have two skid pads for your feet with the hole directly beneath your... hole.

In the parcs over there they also have (or had) pee stations for men. Basically a chest high modesty screen in a G-shape so that you can pee on it with only your head visible. It beats staring at a wall.

only you could work poo into a post about Paris!

that's one stereotype of the "old" world that I'm glad to see go, being of course the hygiene and plumbing.
