The last day in Paris we finally went up the Eiffel tower. Serge is, how shall I say, reticent to be in high places, and you can kind of see his uneasiness in this picture. He did great though and we enjoyed the view and the historical photos. This morning (day 6) we took a cab to the airport and flew to Rome, took two trains and boarded the ship. Haven't taken any pictures yet and tomorrow we're off to Pompeii so I'll be back after tomorrow with another pic. Ciao~

How would we know he's uneasy? He is ALWAYS squinting. Does he need glasses, or is this his natural state? Just curious, but seriously...he is ALWAYS squinting (sun or no sun).
Odile?
It looks like you are having a good time.
You namedropper, you!
Oh, we're leaving Paris and off to Rome and then to Pompeii.
Sheesh! :)
I'm so glad you're posting on your trip, it's too long to wait for updates. Ciao!!
Bravo Serge.
Overcoming your fear of heights in order to enjoy one of the worlds best sights.
Nice view, eh? I remember all those signs telling how far it was to this city and that place in the world pointing in that direction.
What I can't see, I fear, are the white knuckles and how Serge's hands had to be pried loose from the railing. There is a dog park near the Eiffel Tower. One of the few in the city I hear, for future reference.
I hope nobody gets seasick. I know I would. Ed
I have no fear of heights. Handy when you have your amateur radio license.
I've been up on top of 20 story buildings, walked right to the edge, etc.
Have fun!
I guess I have this split personality when it comes to high places--it's thrilling to get up there and see all you can see...but once I look down, whoa!! How the hell did we get up HERE?!
Stunning view and great bird capture in the background--looks like something big, a hawk or an eagle or something...did you notice?
I don't like heights either but I don't have the fear when looking down, it's only when I look up. Give Serge a big hug from me because he is living my dream!
Enjoy the ship and Pompeii and everything else! Much love!

I'm catching up on your five Parisienne days all at once. What a fantastic picture! I love the expression on Serge's face. Have a wonderful cruise.
DON'T JUMP! No, don't do it!
Yay for Serge for overcoming his fear.
What a view! I love the dark clouds and tiny miniature city.
I'm not fond of heights either, but I'm ok if I am on a bldg or something stable; a ladder, forget it.
About 320m high...just hold on to it real tight...
:_)
Oh you are away having a blast. That is just awesome my friend. And I share Serge's woes about hieghts...I would freak out big time. But the view would be more than worth it.
Hope the rest of your trip is magnificent!
hugs
I hope you told him he was lucky it wasn't the leaning tower of Pisa.
