HNT & What is the world coming to?

This is how short the 12 year olds are wearing their skirts. Also, it is taking me a lot longer to finish the second scarf. I'm about a foot away from completion. Happy HNT! (And sorry about the dirty mirror, lol)

If you try not to offend anyone, then by definition you stay as middle-of-the-road as possible.

This blog, while a little bit "out there", is rather milktoast (or is it milquetoast?)

(Sure there have been exceptions.)

And I've realized too, that to sell products to the largest population segment, your advertising must tend to the middle.

And since news has become a business, we see what the "the widest audience" would be interested in.

It's like everything in our culture and society thrives on banality and mediocrity. (Doesn't every respectable town have a Walmart, Mickey D's, Subway, Home Depot and Drug store?)

I maintain that this is why art is so important, because art tends to offend our sensibilities and challenge our prejudices.

I don't know, our culture just feels stagnant to me sometimes or even worse, degenerating. Sigh.

Nice HNT. Grrr. I've never wanted to be a scarf before today.

Culture? Yeah, I'd say about 12 people these days know what that is. Instead we'd rather exalt the talents of people who say "Git 'R Done!"

And again, I die a little inside.

Ideally, I should make a snappy comment on length, or width, but I've decided to let the other Dorothy Parker's out there get first crack.

You're in Montreal and you feel that culture is in decline because of stagnating art? I would give my left nut--well, ok, maybe my right nut--to be in Montreal this week. Some of the finest music producers in the world are in your town for Mutek.
Maybe "the techno" just offends your senses though.

Right with you on the importance of art. And nice to see your contribution to HNT.

I'm glad that somebody else thinks the same way I do. This blog is my haven!

Oh you're really hot too.

I don't want my art to offend. I'm hoping to challenge. I'd rather society move my way, so that I couldn't offend.

And I agree, we are stagnating.

Nice basket.

Oh, and, um, art... yeah. Art.

It’s good to see you putting your knitting skills to creative use.

I totally agree about society being committed to medioctiry. It’s like the current obsession with chain restaurants. Nobody really thinks the food in these places is great, but they would rather have consistency than gamble on a potentially unknown independent restaurant. It’s crazy! Crazy, I say!

Not everyone could pull off an outfit like that, but I think you've got the legs for it. :P

HAPPY HNT!

I have never been a fan of scarves until now...

And I so agree with you on your take on art...

Would have been an excellent post even without the hot pic...

Aren't you a tall drink of water.

Art should shock, but it also should inspire, enlighten and provoke a reaction, either positive or negative.

Art that shocks for the sake of pure shock value is as banal as art that entertains merely for the sake of entertaining.

Are you implying that your nekkid photo is the art? Yes, you seem to be violating your scarf, but I don't think it falls under the "offensive" category.

Stagnant culture? Heiress Pillton released an album. 'nuff said.

stagnant culture... hey, you've been to Penticton recently haven't you??
We're just so full of vibrance around here (rolling my eyes)

Love your HNT and I'm so touched to hear that my nipple was erotic for you in a clean way of course. LOL
Thanks for the kind words!

Happy HNT!

Love the outfit, especially what's wearing it. And Cultcha? what's that? Are tickets for that on sale yet?

Nice scarf!! And nicer pic! I bet you could sell "skirts" like that online, LOL! :-)

You should Knit something for Serge. I think he could pull off a skirt like that. It fact I'm sure he would like to pull that one off.

You can't keep away from the HNT can you? So long as the little girls aren't sporting sausage legs, it's not too bad...is it? I mean, I wouldn't let my child out dressed in a skirt that short.
