It's a two and a half hour drive to Quebec City. We were famished upon arriving and sat down to order crepes. Being a rather touristy location, this meal cost over $100. Really, it's just some fancy pancakes.
Near Quebec City, there is a sizable waterfall which we made a point of visiting.
We took a tramway to the top of the falls and then walked down. Here's Serge and Bob up at the top.
Those crepes left us hungry, so I had my annual beavertail with chocolate and bananas. The others opted for ice cream.
After the long ride home, the sky made a spectacular performance and a thunderstorm developed overhead and produced some of the best mammatus clouds I've seen up here.
We were tired after all that driving and walking so we ordered a pizza and watched the lightning show until late. A great day, all in all.

$100? For crepes? Are you kidding me? Those had better have been the best crepes you ever ate. Yikes. But sounds like a very pleasant day, none-the-less.
wow, beautiful ....you guys are just way too cute and those clouds....absolutly beautiful....guess quebec is nicer than cleveland..........hahaha...but at least you guys don't have a river that caught on fire
That beavertail with chocolate and bananas looks so good! Ditto the waterfall ... and the gorgeous marshmallow clouds and oh, all three of you!
Beavertail? Now that's a new one to me (I think.....unless I'm confusing it with something else from my past....). I'd love to see that part of our world. Looks like a ton of fun...especially the lighting!
Couldn't you have found a street vendor selling crepes? Were these crepes made with gold-dust flour?
Oh crap! I'm in Quebec city as well but didn't go outside last evening (too busy drinking). I've always wanted to photo mammatus clouds.
Looks as if you guys had a really fun adventure in Quebec City. The Montmorency Falls are really spectacular. Did you go over to Isle d'Orleans?
Amazing clouds! Torn, send the photo to the Weather Network and I'd almost guarantee that they would show it on tv, as they enjoy showing viewers atmospheric pictures.
Wow. I don't think I've ever seen clouds like that. So cool.
The $100 crepes? Not so much. Although I do see a beer and a glass of wine there; that might've helped, no?
I have to go digging in my pictures now because I think I have some shots of that waterfall myself.
Have a good weekend.
You are so cute knowing the names of the cloud formations.
I looked up mammatus clouds to get more info : Mammatus (also known as mamma or mammatocumulus, meaning "breast-cloud") is a meteorological term applied to a cellular pattern of pouches hanging underneath the base of a cloud. The name "mammatus" derives from the Latin mamma, or breast, due to their rounded, hanging morphology.
Tee hee....they said breast!
I have never heard of Mamatus Clouds but they seem to be named correctly. I know Torn loves his cloud formations. As a hobby you could do worse. I'm just sayin'.
I had no Idea that there was a large waterfall near Quebec city. It is so beautiful. $100 for Crepes! Suzette!!!
Sounds like a nice day.
Those clouds are amazing. They look like giant snow balls being flung from heaven.
I had thought that mammatus clouds were a possible precursor to funnel clouds and tornado formation.... The photo is great.
$100 Crepes sounds a bit steep, and it sounds that they didn't actually fill you guys up. However, I will not make any judgments as I once paid $80 for one drink in Tokyo.... always get the price first, I learned.
Enjoy your trip guys.
I love the cloud photo, amazing. I love the sky in all its various shapes and forms. If you ever go on that world tour of the sky you dream of, can I tag along? I've never had a beavertail, but that looks so YUM! Fun times!
Beaver tails and mammatus clouds, a recipe for a perfect day!
Those clouds look like boobies.
Oh yum. Love me some beaver tails. Never heard of Mammatus. They are wonderful.
I read you in Calgary - but am on Vacation - we were actually in Quebec City on the same day! We also stopped at those falls - but on our way whale watching in Tadoussac! Small world!
Awesome photo of the clouds!
The last time I saw Montmorency Falls it was covered in snow and ice. It made traipsing up and down those paths and stairways very interesting, let me tell you!
Sounds like a fun day, and you are all so cute. ;-)
I've never seen clouds like that before. Very neat.
^ me neither
nice shot
Food, booze, waterfalls. Oh my!
In the photo of you with the beavertail and Bob with the ice cream, am I really the only one who noticed that Bob appears to have gone 'commando' that day? Que surprise!!!
