When lies reveal truth

What was really lovely last night was seeing Senator Larry Craig on the news proclaiming furiously that, "I am not gay!"

As though the very notion was a fate worse than death.

It was pretty much like Clinton proclaiming "I did not have sexual relations with that woman!"

Basically, the louder they shout the denial, the more strongly the thing they are denying is accurate.

Wouldn't it be refreshing to just hear these guys say, "I'm human, I make mistakes, and all my needs are not being met in my current relationship."

I know I'd be far more forgiving if they did.

Yes, just speak the truth. It'd alienate some people, but win over others. They all make me sick. And yes, the gay thing, protesting like there is something wrong with being gay. Pft

When the airport security arrested him Mr. craig showed them his I.D. and said, "I'm a Senator what do you think about that?" Back 30 years ago when Mr. Craig first came to Washington he was accused of fondling a Page. He wasn't Gay then either.

The phrase "Methinks thou dost protest too much" comes to mind with Craig.

It's like when Ted Haggard said something like:

"Yes, I bought crystal meth from a gay prostitute, but after purchasing it, I immediately threw it out. After that he gave me a massage (aside: maybe prostate)"

I still can't believe they arrested him for making a move on someone in the washroom. I always forget how homophobic society is.

What I find ridiculous is how his career will meltdown because he was seeking "lewd" behaviour. It's hypocritical considering how much he has campaigned for "family values", but as with Clinton, he should not lose his career over personal matters. That said, one less proponent for "family values" may be a good thing.

Perez Hilton posted his voting history. How do you spell Homophobic? Larry Craig.

The more people come out, the more it is accepted in society and less people will feel "shame" at being who they really are. Live authentically, damnit!

Oh, this isn't directed at you Torn, your last post clearly indicated your authenticity!!! :)

A post from Tornwordo not involving poo! How novel. :)

Course, it did, indirectly, involve a bathroom, so I guess you're still on target. :)

HUGS....

I couldn't have said it better myself, torn. Right on!

I beg to differ, Polt. This post is involving poo ... or a lot of shit ... all coming from Craigslust ... mouth... whatever.

Perfectly said, Torn. It would be refreshing, indeed. I don't think it's going to happen, though.

I think there is something very sad about people like Craig. They need physical affection from another man, but are so tortured by internal homophobia that they try to prove that they are not gay by being outwardly homophobic. It makes me feel bad for them.

Then I think about how evil they are and I get over it.

CNN last night was quoting stats from the Centre for Disease Control who apparently track HIV rates, not just in Gay men but also in a new category called "Men who have sex with Men." According to CNN you don't have to be gay to have sex with men. Who knew? Perhaps there should be yet another category for Republicans that have sex with Men.

I'm going to be a prick and correct lemuel. The quote is "The lady doth protest too much, methinks." It's from Hamlet, Act 3, scene 2. The main characters are watching a performance of a play where the soon-to-be-unfaithful queen declares her love for her king. Hamlet says this, as a jibe to his recently widowed and now remarried mother.

There will be a test tomorrow.

To nearly everyone in conservative Idaho, being gay IS a fate worse than death. Its certainly political suicide. But I agree with Snooze--in this day & age, the police should have better things to do than sit around in restrooms arresting people for making sexual advances.

Once more into the breach dear friends, once more or close the wall up with our English dead!!!
He jests at scars who never felt a wound!
With wings of love did Larry Craig O'er perch these stalls.

You're right, and I'm especially troubled by the fact that his being gay is being treated like it's such a horrible thing. It's only horrible because self-loathing hypocrites like him let it be treated that way and perpetuate the hatred.

On a lighter note, I think the cop should pose shirtless and put out a calendar. It could be a hit in airports everywhere! ;-)

Hallelujah and Amen!!!

I think people are more offended by the HYPOCRISY than the sexual acts. I know I am.

The cop really was pretty cute...

Although I really feel for Sen. Craigs family, it makes me happy when stuff like this happens. It takes that much more credibility away from people spouting hate masked as "social conservatism".

I think sex in a public bathroom between any two persons is DASGUSTING! Do you know what people DO in there?
Gah!

I am in 100% agreement with gayprof, and with your post.

You know.. I don't know how much of this is about being gay.

You see, I watch COPS. They have stings on there all the time, where female police officers are wearing hidden microphones and they are also filmed with hidden cameras.

99% of the time the first thing people say when arrested for soliticing is "I was just talking to her" or "I didn't do anything wrong". Yet we know better, because we have already seen the footage of them doing the actual solicitation.

Which brings up an interesting question - surely this undercover police officer was miked, there would have been a camera somewhere. That's how they do these things.

It's called denial - whether you're gay or not, these people who solicit always rush to deny they did it. Especially if they are married.

And the same thing happens when the police do drug stings, too. Perhaps it is more about getting caught than anything else.

My favorite part was when he started his response by saying: "Let me be clear....." Now, that makes it all better, doesn't it.

Personally, I think he was dumb to assume this would all go away. Hell, we live in a world where every move Zac Efron makes is considered "news."

But, while his political career is probably over, Idaho remains a HUGE RED STATE and if he resigns, a republican will probably win an election.

However, if he remains and tries to be re-elected, it could give the democrates an in-road.

Really, in the end, he was dumber than a box of rocks.

I'm thinking he's a gay fella.
