We've been touring the town even though it's been pretty rainy the last couple days. Here's a shot I got down in the old city after we went to the archeological museum. I don't know what the "equalize" function does, but somehow it made this picture better. Last night we saw Australia's entry in the fireworks competition from the top of the Jacques Cartier bridge. I've lived here eight years now, and we've never walked onto the bridge to watch the fireworks. It was spectacular, though it would suck if a storm popped up as there's no shelter up there.
Today we've got to turn over the apartment to the new tenant so David is moving to a hotel for the last two nights of his visit. He scored a four star hotel downtown for a little over half price on Priceline. I've said it before, Priceline is like a casino where you always win.
There's not much else to talk about. I've been playing tour guide mostly, a job I think I'd be good at, and staying satisfactorily distracted and occupied so that this quitting smoking thing is practically a non-issue. Hey look 20 days today.

Pretty picture.
:)
Beautiful picture/great news/20 days.
You have an international fireworks competition? Wow.
Twenty days. Yay. I'd be afraid calling it a "non-issue" is just asking for trouble :)
I wonder if I have an equalize button? That picture is fabulous!
Congrats on the 20th day! Go buy yourself a treat, you deserve it!
I attended the international fireworks competition in Vancouver a few years ago. It was held on a series of barges at English Bay, along the seawall. It was amazing! They called it a Celebration of Light and it was accompanied by a wonderful symphony music. I loved every moment and want to take my sons to see it when they're a little older.
I love the misty, spiritual greys of that photo.
Montreal is even pretty in the rain. Glad you and David are having so much fun.
Congrats on 20 days! Hope it stays easy from here on out.
Rainy! That makes me homesick for the rain.
I just don't get the whole fireworks thing. A ritualistic reenactment of battle which toxifies the very air we breathe. Oooh. Aaaah.
Nice picture. The equalization function of white balance. Sometimes greys and whites are hard for a digital camera to distinguish so white balance uses a histogram to compensate or equalize.
BTW, congrats on the 20 day mark.
I think they had that competition here way back in the nineties. I remember husband and I going downtown to watch it and it was quite impressive.
We've only got the dreary skies but no rain here. We need it too!
I used to use priceline when you could buy your groceries on there. It was awesome but then they went and did away with it for who knows what reason. I used to get spectacular deals with it too.
Congratulations on twenty days of a smoke-free life. Keep up the good work resisting that urge. If you haven't gone to Midnight Garden, Greg drew a picture of the infamous, "Nicodemon."
Yea for twenty days! Great picture! There are a lot of things on my camera that I have no idea what they do or how I use them but it's fun learning. I'm sure the Australian entry was the best, I'm just sayin'
Great shot! Montreal is a beautiful city.
Twenty days, you rock, Torn!!
Three days here, baby, and holding fast! This time its gonna be a non-issue for me, too...well, eventually. Come see if I did justice to the Nicodemon!
Great photo...the best ones are the unlikely photos, on less than perfect weather days.
I think you've got that smoking thing in the bag this time! Don't become complacent though.
Were your ears burning this weekend? The conversation turned to quitting smoking and I proudly told my visiting physical friends about my virtual friend who's quitting smoking. Congrats!
Mark :-)
