Skippable post if ever there was one

I just love waking up at 4:30 on a Saturday morning. Normally I'd rollover and go back to sleep, but I was thirsty and had to pee and by the time I finished that, I had already run through all the chores necessary today, and then I was awake. Make five quizzes, collect rents, take car in for the power steering problem, amass texts from the news for students, prep a new course starting this week, shop for groceries, do laundry, shovel snow, clip the dog's toenails, water plants and make dinner. It feels like too much to do and this causes a stressful feeling, a tightness in the chest that makes sleep impossible. It also seems to cause the most boring paragraphs imaginable to be written.

This is our first real car problem. We've been adding power steering fluid every week for the past month as there seems to be a leak even though I can't find any evidence of it after the car has been parked for awhile. This is why I hate power anything on a car. They fail more often and cost more to fix.

We've got another little snowstorm this morning. Supposed to pan out at 3-6 inches. We're flirting with all time record snowfall so now I'm gunning for more snow, because you know, I'd love the bragging rights: "I lived through the snowiest winter ever in Montreal." Of course there's a couple million of us who will have this right, so it's not all that special. But still.

It's going to be 63 today, 68 tomorrow. I'll take it.

I've never seen a skipable post from you, they all reveal a bit more of the heart that lies within.

I always stress over car problems. I guess it is because I cannot fo much about them and they always turn out to be so expensive. I guess I should be grateful for the opportunity to deal with macho mechanic eye candy. :)

Spring is here, finally. It is supposed to get 60 degrees tomorrow. A nice weekend, we must be living right.
Even your most hum drum blogs are better than most others. Sara said to tell you that she doesn't really want her toenails cut. Ed

i'm the same way about not being able to go back to sleep once my mind starts ticking off the day's activities. your day sounds very busy but my goodness, if you accomplish even half of your list, it'll be really productive. make something great for dinner as a reward.

Surviving the snowiest winter in Montreal may not be a big deal IN Montreal, but just wait until you next get to Southern California. Imagine how cool you'll be there!

4:30 am, five days out of the week I'm already on the road headed for work! NOT going to happen on a weekend though!

I've lived through our Hottest (1988), Coldest (1976) and Snowiest (sometime in the late 90's or early 2000's) years in history here in Cleveland. It just seems natural that the climate will go topsy turvy in my lifetime.

Good luck on your busy Saturday and with the car. I hate cars - an evil necessity!

Wishing for snow so you can have bragging rights!

Getting up at 4:30 am on a Saturday? GROSS! Couldn't you have just rolled over and gone back to sleep. Serge might have been pleased to wake up and find you with a pee boner. Hello!
BTW. No snow for us on the other side of the country. Which is good because today is the first ride of the year for the gay triathlon club. Woo Hoo!

How late will you stay up tonight after having got up so early? Will you nap? I'm such a hen, I'm worried about you getting insomniated again!

Hope the car troubles are minor and fixable. You need a tenant who is a mechanic.

I woke up early this morning, was thirsty, had to pee, and started thinking about everything I needed to do (including the Never Ending Research Project of Doom). Somehow, I still went back to sleep.

I thank the gods that my brother is a mechanic. That relieves so much pressure about automobiles.

66 degrees here in eastern NC today. Amazing for March 1.

4:30 on a Saturday!! I don't mind waking up that early knowing I can go back to sleep for hours. As far wanting more snow now so you can come in first I know the feeling in reverse. I used to be on a bowling league and my team was really bad. Toward the end of the season we hoped that we wouldn't get better because we were gunning for last place. People only notice who finishes first and last and we were striving for last. Such low expections I know.

You're like me when you like to get everything done as early as possible. I hate the car problem stuff. My Honda had an almost $300 bill just for the 20,000 mile check-up. ACK!

I never skip your posts. You're my morning coffee ... my start the day right necessity!

I've read a few boring posts. Never seen one on this blog.

I have a faulty power steering pump on my truck. It still works OK, but the thing makes some funky humming and groaning noises when I turn the wheels. It sounds like someone's getting some hot sex under the hood. Hope your power steering problem isn't too bad.

How did you do with the list?

please tell me that you groom the dog's toenails differently than your own.

If I awaken in the wee hours of the morning and have to pee, I make myself go back to sleep with the idea that I'll get up if/when I really REALLY have to pee.

If/when I get up to pee, I keep my eyes closed as much as possible. I get a general sense of where the bathroom door is, then shut my eyes and feel my way. I will sit down to pee because I can do so with my eyes shut with confidence that I'm not spraying the entire bathroom, then return to bed with my eyes shut as quickly as possible.

All to keep from having happen what happened to you.

Mark :-)
