Kinda gossipy

I wasn't going to write today. You get Saturdays off, I tell myself, but writing sounds easy now, maybe I can skip Sunday instead. Spouse is sleeping on the couch. His robe is open and one leg is bent up as the sun comes in through the window and slides across his very white belly. I woke up at five-ish and noted that Serge wasn't in bed although I could hear him snoring from the living room. I wasn't sure right away if it was the dog or spouse doing the snoring, but soon the human quality of snoring became clear. More ragged. I had gone to bed before he got home. He had gone over to a workmate's place. I didn't want to go since we're going there tonight to watch the fireworks. Anyway, I appreciated that he slept on the couch because the snoring intensifies with the level of alcohol consumed. He is snoring loudly as I type.

Well this is just scintillating isn't it? I should have skipped today after all I suppose... I don't know if I'm anti-social. I mean, I love being among humans, but I'm not so keen on interacting with them. Serge always says before we go to a party, "You have to talk." It's probably good that he reminds me, otherwise people think I'm haughty and aloof. I'm not aloof, I just don't like talking all that much. I'm good at listening and nodding though.

Are you still here? Can't imagine why. Hey, I know. The big news of the week in (and I can't remember who coined this one but it wasn't me) blogaritaville as many of you know, is the shocking story of fraud and intrigue. Long time reader and commenter Cooper is not what he claimed to be. Start here. Anyway, when this story broke, I was shocked and skeptical. Mad at myself for being duped. Just because it's easy to fool people doesn't make it right, you know? Anyway, because I think this is funny now, about a week ago, RJ wanted to leave a snarky comment in the comments but thought better of it and sent me his comment privately. "Cooper" (let's call those quotes snidemarks, shall we?) was the first commenter of the day.

I'm sure he's nice and he's always saying the sweetest things-- which is probably why I hate him so much-- but that Cooper's picture makes me stomach-sick every time I see it. I can't even tell you why because I don't know why myself. A gut reaction.

Now I'm sure had he left that comment, he would have been flamed. Even I was defensive about poor ""Cooper"" (double snidemarks) and didn't even respond to RJ's comment. But now it all sounds so funny. He's not even real! And I wonder what poor guy's picture was being used in the profile. Okay enough gossiping, time to eat my bagel. Then my workout. Day 26 is here.

Sadly, I'm a real person.

I mean, who would want to pretend to be me? Now, that would be crazy.

I let the story consume my yesterday. I really can't let it take over my weekend, too.

... back to parties. Unfortunately, it's a fine line between shy and snooty.

You saw it at Rox's place...

I think it's just sad that some people have no life to the extent they have to invent one.

Scintillate away. Even when you bore yourself, you're still fun to read.

(Tell Serge to get some sun on that belly)

I hope that the creator of Coopers Corridor gets help. I like farmboyz balanced reaction to the whole drama. It reminds me of the whole blogger "Dante" getting hit by a car in Australia saga. That was fictitious too, but these were just the outreach of very lonely people.

I used to read cooper's blog but he/she talked about the children way too much. So she is a gay man stuck in a woman's body? It takes all kinds to make the World. As Matt Damon said in his role as Tom Ripley, "I'd rather be a fake somebody than a real nobody". It is sad that some people feel the need to lie to be accepted. Let those among us who have never sinned cast the first stone. ed

The picture was supposedly her son. However, take that with a grain of salt. The amazing thing to me is that world is a much smaller place because of the internet. How could this psycho think someone eventually wouldn't stumble across that blog, all of the photos, and not blow the whistle?

I first read about hijinks on Gay Prof's blog and wondered who the fake blogger was. Was at JoeMyGod's and found out. I read the infamous blog a few times, and was sucked in by a few posts, but I wasn't a regular. I wondered what was up when the blog was deleted.

Who has time for such fabrication?

There is nothing more that I can think of to say about "Cooper."

Maybe people think you are "aloof" because you are so tall? Assuming you are "real" at all.

Well, thanks for outing me as either a world-class hater or a decent judge of character. "A gut reaction" indeed.

I never bothered to check his blog, so strong was my distain. Laugh's on you!

Lattegirl is right...I'm the one who says Blogaritaville. Heaven help me though if I read it somewhere else and then lay claim to having coined it. LOL!

Ed? Needs to start a blog. I always love his comments.

RJ? I'm going to become one of your readers because I DO love the snark.

Yowza.

Well, I think I may have found my way to your blog here from a comment you left on Cooper's Corridor. That's goodness. :-)

Congratulations for making it to Day 26!!

Oh boy! It's almost been a month now! You can do it buddy, I know you can.

The whole Cooper thing was interesting yesterday, but since I never read his/her blog, I wasn't invested at all in it.

If you want to see some real fakery, go to Match.com. Wow.

Talking at parties is good, but it's so much more fun to sit back and watch people interact and such.

Gee, I hope they'll have fireworks for me when I reach Day 26!! (Only 19 days to go!)

For the record I've always thought that blog was a fake, it just seemed way too idyllic.

The creepiest thing about that whole sordid affair is that whomever was keeping that blog was putting photos of someone's children up on it almost daily. That just creeps me out.

When Cooper's blog vanished I was crushed. I've missed it so much. I can't believe it was all a lie! I guess you can't trust the internet. Maybe you're not even real. Man, I hope you're not a sham, too.

Well, thanks to you I just spend the last god knows how long reading about this, and writing a novel-length comment. :P

I'm done with this one too. It was fun last night when I had nothing better to do...god, I need a life! It's just really old now. When it is revealed that this was created by some marketing group or ad company or someone with a book or movie coming out I won't be the least bit surprised. Seems so unlikely that just one person pulled this off. And worst of all why didn't I think of it?

I don't like to talk at parties, either, unless I'm talking to a good friend, someone I already talk to frequently and comfortably. I don't (usually) intend to seem aloof.

Kudos to Rox for blogaritaville. That's a good one.

"I love being among humans, but I'm not so keen on interacting with them...." Oh dear god. I'm afraid I'm awfully much like you. Scary.

I can tell how much my hubs has had to drink, too, by the volume of the snores. His very own Beerometer.

Dear Readers;
Torn and Serge are real. They came to New York where we inspected them thoroughly, which is nice work if you can get it.
As you would imagine, yesterday at a gathering of bloggers in Central Park, the whole Nicky saga was given some attention. Ya gotta laugh.

Oh and big congrats on day 26. (It gets easier every day.)

Jen said...

Ah, but Father Tony Are You Real? Wait, am I?

Polt said...

Hmm, so that's what happened to Nicky's blog. Wow. Who knew? I think in the end, I really feel sorry for someone who does that. I mean, what she wasn't plagerizing, was well written, I suppose. But thanks, anyway, Torn, for claering that up, I did wonder what happened.

HUGS...

For keeping the Quit...and pretty entertaining blogging, there's an award with your name on it (and some crows, too!)over at the Garden!

Now I know what happened to Cooper. I thought there were a few things odd about it, but never THIS much.

But it was through "his" blog that I found yours. I'm relieved to read that you're real.

Congrats with the smokes, or lack thereof!

Cheers!
