Updatish

It seemed like yesterday when I thought about this, there were a dozen things to talk about here. Now, the brain is devoid of much thought. I could mention how Jimmy's dad isn't calling back even though we spoke to his mom Saturday. I guess I just did. You know, platitudes rush in during times like this (like father like son, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree etc) and I'm slightly comforted that we are not the first to have experienced the reason for such sayings. Still, every cloud has a silver lining even though sometimes you can't see it since it's at the end of the tunnel, you know, where the light is. (I'd like to think I'm being clever, but retarded is more like it)

Cut me some slack, it's day seven. Week one. Done. I've been haunting the Quitnet site which has a wonderful forum area where you can lurk or participate in discussions. I love the NOPE (not one puff even) slogan and the way they make you promise to post on the forum if you are about to break down and smoke. After you post, you must wait for two replies. This is usually long enough to get you through the crisis. I haven't done that, nor will I (ah so pompous) unless necessary.

I'll go now. I just can't get it together to be interesting today. I think my brain chemistry is changing.

Time smoke-free: 6 days, 8 hours, 40 minutes and 4 seconds
Cigarettes NOT smoked: 191
Lifetime saved: 1 day 11 hours
Money saved: $32.00

I love Quitnet.
I've not smoked 54,271 cigarettes! I can't believe that, imagine how many I smoked, millions!! Congrats on your first week! Put the money in a jar or something so when it really adds up you have it! I wish I'd done that, I'd have $11,941.60 and a damn big jar!

Congrats on your first week!

You forgot...

Life without being a slave to cigarettes? Priceless!

You are a winner Richard, and I'm very proud of your strength. Soon your sense of smell will return and food will taste even better. If you add a day a week to your life you'll be so glad someday. Ed

Keep it up. I like the money saved as a motivator as it can be the beginning of the fund for your next great vacation.

Visiting Montreal with friends in September and would love to meet and buy you a drink.

Excellent work on the puff-free zone this week! I know that I've heard it said of alcohol to "do anything except drink" when you're feeling that urge coming on. Eat, walk, sex, phone call, sex, read, sex, cook, sex, scream, sex....etc. Best of continued luck.

You're doing great. Hang in there.

Ooh, I need to quit something so I can go on Lewis' plan.

It's your chemistry that's messing with your head. It will clear, and we will wait because we love you.

Wow, the money you saved pretty much equal to how much I spend on food for a week o_O

Quitnet - What an excellent use of the internet. I'm guessing that they help you calculate those last stats.

I agree, put that money away for something special, just for you.

Oh darlin'.

Blanche!

Blanche! Blanche!

It's not working, is it? Well, you're doing a good thing.

Congrats on NOPE!! I hope each day is getting somewhat easier. As someone who has never smoked, well once for 2 weeks in 8th grade and it was awful, you are doing yourself and others a good thing. Hang in there, we're proud of you!

After 6 days, 8 hours, 40 minutes, 4 seconds and counting, what's one more day. Congrats on getting this far... but we know youre capable of so much more.

Wow, a week! congrats, man! It seems a bit anal to have all those numbers figured out, but hey, if it's what helps you, then have at it! :)

Keep up the good work!

Hang in there, you are now a non-smoker. I found that a nice big glass of water would take my mind off the cigarette obsession one has when quiting. You're doing great!

I'm surprised the father is ignoring you. Perhaps mentioning defaulting on a contract will affect his ratings and that you expect to hear from him to resolve this before it goes that far.

Rah! Rah! Congrats!!!

I have been intently looking in on you this week - you're one of my first ethernet stops when I get to my laptop at the end of a workday. :) No pressure, just wanting you to know we're all rootin' for you!

Yeah!!!!

1 week down, another week to begin. One step, one foot at a time.

Just think what kind of trip you can go on with the money you save from not smoking. It's amazing how much you spend on such a little, destructive thing.

It really puts things in check when you provide the stats like you have. Good start on your first week!

so when you have all this saved money, and are able to take a wonderful nope trip, does serge have to stay home? cause he so totally should. Let him stay home and smoke the filthy damn things. and you can tell him I said so.

lovely apartment, by the way. seems like a reasonable price, also. why, the high speed internet alone is worth a hundred bucks...I'd say...
