Snippets

* This sculpture figures prominently at one of my worksites. I'm always fixated on the three breasts.

* Sometimes life is like a University of Pain. It's the extracurricular activities that bring joy and love.

* The thing about "coming out" is this: Life is ultimately easier to live when you have nothing to hide. This is the most compelling argument I can offer.

* Jobs that reward dishonesty: salesperson, politician, lobbyist, evangelist.

* You learn by doing, not by reading. Until you do it, it's only a supposition.

* I've noticed that trees generally lose their leaves from the top down. In spring, the leaves appear first at the bottom and then rise to the top. So. The lower leaves "live" longer.

* A fly lives but 10 days. It seems cruel to squash them.

* I have seen a sprite.

* Proverbially, you mustn't:
- count chickens prior to their hatching
- judge a book by its cover
- disturb a sleeping dog
- fix something that isn't broken
- put all of one's eggs into a single basket
- put the cart before the horse
- call a kettle black (particularly if you are a pot)

* Every great advance in science has been subsequently disproven. Makes you wonder about the term "scientific fact."

* I have bungee jumped, ridden in a glider and performed the duties of a jury foreman.

* The same guy who designed Central Park in New York also designed Montreal's Mount Royal Park. Frederick Law Olmsted.

* I really can't fathom the importance of whether or not someone "believes" in God. Yet some people believe this distinction is worth killing for. (Or at the very least, casting aspersion.)

----------------------------

Just a note to let you know that due to the move, I'll be taking a short break from the puter. I wish everyone a wonderful weekend and I'll see you sometime next week. (I'm shooting for Tuesday.) Ciao!

I'd be fixated on the three breasts too!

And your 'coming out' point was a great one.

I have absolutely no secrets (of my own). This way I don't need to deal with the fear or lies of them eventually being found out.
It's very freeing.

Enjoy your weekend off.

I had no idea that Central Park and Mount Royal Park were designed by the same guy. Mount Royal Park is so beautiful this time of year. I'm jealous.

I like that statue too. It's great that you work near it and notice it; so many would just walk right past.

And oo, oo... the English teacher in me is going to disagree with you on one point (is it okay to disagree with you?)

"You learn by doing, not by reading. Until you do it, it's only a supposition."

This may be true much of the time, but the one time it isn't is in regards to reading and writing. Reading, not writing, makes one a better writer. Writing makes one a better thinker.

I find that so interesting in regards to what I do in the classroom every day.

Happy, smooth move!

Good luck - Have a stress-free and relatively easy move.

Frackin' awesome snippets! You are really a philosopher.

Another job that might reward dishonesty: Corporate Officer (CEO, CIO, etc.) Of course, that might fall under the "politician" umbrella.

I couldn't agree more, that also goes along with the whole Life experience thing some younger people just refuse to appreciate.

Have a great weekend! :)

Best wishes on a problem free move.

Well, at least you don't have to move that statue. It looks heavy -- That third breast alone must way 20 or 25 pounds.

Good luck with the move!

And now a word from the contrarian:

* She needs to work on her posture.

* If live is a University, is the afterlife Graduate School?

* Sometimes a little secret can be fun, especially if its dirty and you share it with someone else.

* I don't think evangelists are consciously dishonest, they believe the lies too.

* I think Rebekah was spot on with this one.

* So it's like I always knew: it's better to be on the bottom.

* Time is relative and flies are unhygienic.

* I've had a Sprite. And the bottles are perfect for sneaking wine into public parks.

* How about look a gift horse in the mouth?

* So is the theory of evolution really wrong and intelligent design the answer?

* Well, I've slow danced with a lesbian.

* Cool. (OK, you got me on that one)

* For those whose core identity is wrapped tightly around that belief, it sadly does becomes a life or death matter.

Have an uneventful and completely forgettable move and an eventful and memorable life in your new digs.

You are the first thing I read in the morning, what will I do until Tuesday?!

I agree with Rebekah...have a smooth move...EXLAX! (I just had to add that)

I have never bungee jumped, ridden in a glider or performed the duties of a jury foreman. Just reading that you did gave my stomach a little flip flop.

I too, love your snippets, although I despise the wotrd "snippet" with a passion. I know it's unreasonable, but there you have it, steaming on a platter. Forgive me, I'm gay.

Oh, and I would be way more concerned about the thunderthighs. She could at least use the 3 breasts thing to talk about at parties.
