I guess I'm supposed to be doing snippets this morning. Trouble is, I haven't been jotting things down since we went on vacation. For me, vacation is all about getting out of your routine. (That's why it's hard to have a real vacation by staying home. ) It's a great thing, to disconnect fully, and we often learn things about ourselves in the process. This time I learned that I think I could do vacation full-time. I suppose that's called retirement. Well, bring it on! Dan asked me yesterday, "What would you do then?" And without skipping a beat, I said, "I'd get a big camera and globetrot in search of cloud shots. Of course I'd have to take some classes first." Do I get a prize for "dullest retirement idea ever"?
Here's the final montage of our California trip 2007. I know it was a great vacation because when I watch this I get a big old lump in my stomach. I can't really tell what that lump is (grief?) but it's very far away from indifference.

I am ready for that full time vacation called retirement, but it is most likely at least six years off. I cannot get my head around people who retire and say they have nothing to do. I have so many things waiting for me to do that I think I will need six or seven long healthy retirements to do them.
Well this was a nice jump start for my vacation, which starts this afternoon. I don't think mine will be as fabulous, but it should still be fun.
Even I teared up from watching that and I wasn't even there.
This May was my 10th anniversary of retirement. Well, Aids induced retirement but that's just a detail. I enjoy it, you'd be amazed at all the stuff out there that you can do when you've got the time. It's great but a little boring sometimes. I wish I had more $$ though, then the world would indeed be my oyster. I occasionally have the odd job here and there but I try not to work more than 10 days a year, so I don't wear myself out. Ha!
I love that song! And the pool footage from PS looks like it's from the '60;s for some reason. That last picture is great too.
This was wonderful, and the accompanying music perfect! I got a little teary watching it, which sounds silly, but it was the whole ambiance and the chords touched about my own recent holiday that did it. Happy weekend, Torn.
Wish that you would go on more vacations. That video was so darn cute. Would love to see more.

I can't see the video and you know how much I hate that. My computer is old and tempermental. Actually it's a lot like me. LOL. Please keep blogging about your trip. I'll never go to California except through your eyes. I would love to go around Globetrekking with you and seeing the world through your unique eyes. What shall we do with Serge?
Ah yes, SoCal is so alluring. I love PS and that whole area, even in the Summer... perhaps even more than the milder Winter as as there are fewer people in town. However, Montreal has an equal appeal to me, at least. The perfect set would be PS in the deep of winter and then back home to the great food and culture of Montreal.
Saw the video/ slide presentation, it was great and the music so hip. I can just hear Serge saying the tree blossom Inn. They allowed smoking in the room.
That was SOOOOOOOO good. You made me all melancholy with your song and your Serge and all that loveliness. In a good way, in a happy feeling love for the world way.

Say Torn, you showed this Serge fellow 33 times in the presentation. I think you must like him a lot. I had a little dog just like the one at the end. His name was Popo and he thought he was a Great Dane.
