I reserved a car for the long weekend, and the first thing we did after picking it up was to track down the first Taco Bell to open in the Montreal area. Prior to this, the closest one was a two hour drive. As it was, we had to drive a half an hour into the depths of suburbia to find it. It shares the counter with KFC (which is PFK up here, pronounced Pay-eff-kah) but no matter, an actual fast food mexican joint exists here. It wasn't very good, but then it isn't trying to be, it's Taco Bell after all. What does Pepsi know about tacos? Anyway, here I am at 11am in the parking lot just as they opened. You can see the reflection of the PT Cruiser we rented in the window.
As it turned out, we were very near the neighborhood where spouse grew up. He wanted to check out the old house. As we wound our way through the neighborhood, he pointed out places. "In that garage, I put my finger into a girl's vagina." "That's the depanneur we stole from." " Here's the school I went to, I hated this school." Etcetera. I was laughing because there were two houses with the finger comment. Perhaps these events were traumatic for him. lol.
Then, reminded of the nature park nearby where spouse's Aunt Bean lived (thus named for her proclivity to eat beans, serve beans, beans, beans, beans) and since spouse knows that nature gives me the biggest hard-on, we were off to explore. We were the sole car in the parking area and we set off for an hour stroll in the freezing forest and marsh. We came out onto a promontory where the river opens up into a wide knot, and got this shot. Sure doesn't look like April, does it?
After nearly freezing to death, we headed over to Costco. The only remarkable thing about the visit was that we didn't buy anything. Each time we picked something up, we pondered the hideous snarling lines at the cashiers and decided it wasn't worth it. Where will we go in our PT Cruiser today?
Great Pictures, Torn. Surprised to learn of the finger poking. I never did more than hold hands with the opposite sex.
That is funny you went to Costco with a large vehicle and left empty handed.
I live in a small town of 6000 and yet we have both a KFC and a Taco Bell in seperate stores.
On a game show "Who wants to be a Millionaire" They asked which city is largest? the choices: Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver. The idiot used all his lifelines and narrowed his choices down to Calgary and Toronto and then picked Calgary.
Wherever you go in the Cruiser take pictures.
Tornwordo, Spouse, And The PT Crusier Adventures...
Sounds like a song or book title to me. Maybe it could be made into a movie???
Wow. That frozen view is just amazing.
head south for good mexican food!!! i've got a great easy salsa recipe if you need a fix!!!
I'm anxious to find out where you go today as well. Regardless, I'm sure you'll have fun.
Where is that Taco Bell near Montreal? I need to go there.
Totally love the journeys and adventures......BUT.
I never knew fingering the vagina (with a family relative, just once....oh, and there was the church custodian's daughter....) and Taco Bell and KFC could all three be mentioned in the very same sentence.
You should go to a cabane à sucre. They'll only be open for a few more weeks. Or head north or east into the mountains. The ride up to Mt Tremblant is quite nice especially with the snow. We do it often. We basically drive up, stroll through the town, have lunch, then drive back. You could also stop at the Mountain Coop near the l'Acadie circle on the way up or back.
What is the general response to the new Taco Bell?
Have fun with your cruiser.
Go to Tim Horton's or St. Hubert's today.
Oh, those wintry pictures make me shiver. Brrrr.
I love seeing the ice arouund the trees.
I hate spring!! The stereotype is something out of a fairy tale; grass is greening, buds are out on the trees, soon to be leaves, birds chirping, flowers blossoming, rainbows appearing after gentle showers... But what do we get? Winter! And then? Ugly! Brown snow and dead grass and freezing rain and wind. Spring is my least favourite season. Though in the end I'm the same as you- I'll be loving the first snowfall in autumn.
The story about spouse's childhood memories cracked me up lol. Sounds like a fun little adventure.
Ok I'll ask. What is a depanneur?
Tell Serge I actually my weenie in there. It's not all it's cracked up to be.
"Where will we go in our PT Cruiser today?", sounds like a cool kid's show on Public Television network. Make sure you update us please!
That last shot has that peaceful desolation feeling to it.
A few weeks ago we looked just like that ... and there have been more white Easters than I care to remember ... but Saturday it was 20 degrees here! I wore shorts. I enjoyed every moment ... because ... Monday, temperatures are supposed to dip down again. Hey, an oasis of warmth is better than none at all.
I loved Montreal when I was there last year. It is so much cleaner than NYC, not to mention the great people!
I was visiting family in Kahnawaka and we spent the weekend touring the city, and you're right Mont Royal does look like a muffin!
Hmmm taco bell !
i loathe taco hell
does PFK stand for errr... poulet frit kentucky? very strange.
i dare say you two are the only ones in history to leave a costco empty handed.
See, those are the points of interest that the guidebooks just don't have. You can only get that kind info from the local peoples.
I love reading of your adventures!
I hope the winter winds didn't interfere with your hard-on.
Man, that snow is some kind of crazy. I get the shivers just looking at the pictures.
I hope your adventures went well in the cruiser.
