Happy happy to the blog and more

Today is a holiday for those of us North of the border. I forget what the holiday is, I just always think it's Memorial Day since that's the US holiday next Monday. I'll go check....okay it's Victoria Day or Queen's Day though here in Quebec it's called Patriot's Day. I don't really care what it is because the important thing is that it's a day off. Yayz. There's another reason for celebration too (for yours truly anyway) because it's the bloggy birthday. Yup four years old now. I find it hard to believe that I've been doing it that long, this hobby that stuck. At the beginning I tried harder to come up with clever phrasing but now I usually just write whatever comes. Kind of like this paragraph. I always tell myself I'm going to quit the blog on its birthday but then I don't, who knows, maybe 5 will be the magic number.

I read yesterday that on average we get 20% of our calories eating out. I thought that that sounded like a lot but when I calculated my percentage, I came up with 14.3%. (3 meals per week out of 21) For me it's usually two lunches out and then either a breakfast or dinner at some point on the weekend. How about you? Are you above or below the average?

Saw Star Trek at the IMAX yesterday. It was fun even though there were more than a few inconsistencies in the plot. I suppose we're supposed to overlook that. The phrase "suspend your disbelief" comes to mind. At the edge of your seat moments I kept telling myself to relax since we all know the characters endure. I love any story with time travel which this one has (and is how old spock meets his younger version) but there was the same plot paradox as in Somewhere in Time. That is that Scotty develops a formula to beam someone onto a vessel going warp drive, but Spock comes back from the future and gives the formula to Scotty. So where did the formula originate? Same thing in Somewhere in Time. She gives him the watch that he gave her when he went back in time. So where did the watch originate? Anyway, I hate it when they do that because I spend all my time turning the conundrum over in my head instead of paying attention to the film.

Congratulations on the 4 year Blogoversary! May there be 4 more. Sticky Crows is now an old friend. I would miss it very much if it was gone. Thanks. ed

Happy blogoversary! (I let mine slip by earlier this month.) I'm glad you're still here.

My pet peeve about Star Trek was the bad science. I think they're just lazy. They could actually come close to real science and still knock our socks off if they wanted to make the effort. I just roll my eyes and suspend disbelief that much further. I did like the movie.

If you like time travel stuff you need to watch LOST. Start now before the next season starts, since you were looking for something to watch! There are plenty of those to keep you entertained and you might be able to get them for free :-)

Oh and I'm like you, I spend too much time trying to work out the details in my head instead of paying attention.

Faulty math, Torn. It says 20% of calories, not meals. A person may only eat one meal out a week, but if that meal is a cheeseburger with poutine on the side followed by a hot fudge sundae, but the person eats only salads the rest of the week, then they probably get even more than 20% of their calories eating out.

Happy blog birthday! Here's to more posts about poop.

I'm afraid we're above average....with the travel related to the job and the fact that right directly out our front door is a mecca of good food. (PS...nice birthday pic....you know what I'm talking about!)

Happy Blog Birthday! It hardly seems like four years...

I may be a simpleton when it comes to movies. I just want them to tell me a story, I don't want to have to try and figure shit out for two hours! Last night we watched "Seven Pounds" with Will Smith and my brain was exploding until the end when it all came together. That's why I try to stick with romantic comedies. ;o)

Happy Blogoversary! I liked the Star Trek movie too. I can't say I spent too much time trying to figure out the time paradoxes. I went in to be entertained and I was.

Time Paradox's are fun to go over, which is why this Trek is so good.

Trek fans will be debating this until the next one comes out.

Personally, I think it was clever to create an alternate time line so now they can do almost anything with out bumping into continuity issues from TOS and beyond.

Scotty still came up with it... in the other reality. That reality is gone now as soon as the romulan ship passed through the black hole. In this new reality, perhaps Scotty--lost out on that outpost--may never have come up with the theory, so Spock *had* to tell him what he himself discovered. Spock learned it from a Scotty that no longer exists. (That last sentence makes my head hurt...)

Happy Blogging birthday! Here's to many more.

I can't watch IMAX movies. I went to one in Ottawa a few years back and it made me sick.

1. Happy Holiday & blog birthday!

2. We eat out way too much , simply because don't have the time to cook...

3. Parallel universe...... suppose that @ anytime, there is a set of multiple possible universes that together comprise all possible reality out there...and the older spock was from the future of a parallel universe & not so much from the same time line...there were many others scientific accuracy, but I don't regret the time and money I spent to see it...

4. Another 4 more years? :)

Four more years! Four more years! NO term limits for Torn!

Happy Bloggin' birthday to you, my friend.

Math makes me itchy, but I rarely eat out. Even eat few meals in the restaurant I work at now, thanks to the Ex and his hot sauce obsession. ; )

Still haven't seen an IMAX movie yet.

(OH, Perfect: My word verification is "splat".)

Congrats on four years!

I definitely eat more than 20% of my calories out. Not 20% of my meals though...it's just that when I eat out, it tends to be burgers or poutine or something equally calorie-full.
