Home at last

Well hello there, we're back. The whirlwind California vaykay is over. Getting home with United was irritating but I shouldn't complain, at least we made it. I woke up at 10 this morning after arriving haggard at 2am last night. We vowed to take the direct flight next time.

I just wanted to check in. There's a million things to do now (I made a list called "upon return" and left it on my desk to remind me) but tomorrow, I'll post some pics. I did want to mention my favorite radio commercial we heard out there. It was for liposuction. Actually there were an astonishing amount of appearance related ads from all forms of media. Anyway, it was so car salesmanlike, "Lipo-Laser, do it NOW and no payments until 2009!" I kept giggling thinking, "Hack flesh from your body and no payments until 2009!" With all the diet ads, the get fit machines and programs, the pharmaceuticals and the plastic surgery publicity, it felt like the overwhelming message was, "YOU ARE NOT ALRIGHT THE WAY YOU ARE." Oh yeah and I saw people wearing flip-flops in the rain. More tomorrow.

I was really expected a slight bit of poop commentary, but the liposuction commercial kinda makes up for it.

Glad you made it back safely. I bet Sara's happy to see you too!!

welcome back, you two! (and thanks for checking in on me, how completely sweet.)

the palm trees are beautiful but it's that strange thing called "blue sky" that really has me drooling.

No payments until 2009? Gee, that's time enough to get fat again!

You flight comments were interesting because I just had a conversation with a super visor who told of the one veep's nightmare of recently flight to and from Hawaii. It makes me glad I do not fly anymore.

Welcome home!

Does the lipo-laser-no-payments-until-forever come with an extended warranty for an additional fee?

Hi Torn,

Glad to hear that you had a good trip.

I have found something that remind me of you :) These are mp3 files that claim to help you quit smoking and have deep sleep by means of subliminal.

For deep sleep

I tried the deep sleep one and it seems to be quite ok. The details are in pdf file included in the zip ;)

You have now experienced the United difference. They suck!

You probably read of my experiences. I should have been back home no later than 7PM. Ended up not flying to my home airport, and getting home at 3AM.

If we hadn't been persistent we would have gotten back over a day late.

Welcome back, hope you had a good time and can't wait to hear more about the trip. BTW the last time we flew on United they were absolute crap on every sector and we had 9 separate sectors including the 15 hour flight from Australia where they ran out of food choices and we had not even left the gate yet. Every time we turned around there was a problem including loosing our luggage. Did I mention we were flying business which apparently makes no difference to United. It's bad treatment equally across the board with them. Never again. Sorry for rambling but every time I hear "United" I get angry all over again.

Welcome home! Is it too clingy of me to admit that I missed you a great deal while you were away? Cuz I did. Glad your back!!

I miss my flip flops. I'm so tired of wearing clunky winter boots and slippers and socks! UGH!

Welcome back, Torn! You were sorely missed! The thought of liposuction literally makes me queazy. I can't wait to read your balmy Califonia stories. I think I remember flip-flops ... vaguely. I'll bet Sara is happy, happy, happy today!

I could never live out there, don't have and never will have the right body. Self esteem issues must keep the therapists very busy. What's funny is these people have cosmetic surgery to look better (plastic) but when they have children, they will inherit the "old" nose, chin, eyes etc. My theory is that everyone in the glam parts of Cali will all one day look the same. They're well on their way. I admire anyone out there that still have the teeth they were born with and not the big, blinding chompers that are so popular. Oh, and glad you're back!

Welcome back! Sorry your return trip was less than ideal. The thought of flying somewhere almost makes me want to change my vacation to a drivable locale.

Didn't you know? When you drive across the line into Los Angeles county there's a big sign that reads: "Welcome to Los Angeles! You are not alright the way you are."

Mark :-)

Welcome home, Torn and Serge!

I wore flipflops growing up in FL. The only problem was when they imbedded a sharp sandspur into your heel. Man, that hurt. But not enough to stop wearing flipflops.

Once again they have become the thing to wear, even in winter, even in Indiana. Rain? Try snow.

Welcome back. Missed ya!

By the way, I wear flip flops all the time, even whe it was raining this past weekend.

Got teased for it by my friends. But one of the reasons I live in SolCal is so I can wear them all the time.

Hooray you're back! Can't wait to hear all the fun and see all the pictures. "I saw people wearing flip-flops in the rain." sounds like a great line for a song.

I welcome your return as the internet was not quite the same jovial place with high positive energy without your presence illuminating from the bright spot in Canada that last while.

I look forward to your tales of SoCal and hearing more of your days up north.

Welcome back! i like the sound of that commercial, and I like lemuel's comment about there being time to get fat again before the payment was due. That would be my luck.

Glad you're home safely! I'm looking forward to the photos.

Since a butt lift can't be re-po'd, I wonder what they do to those who won't pay in 2009.

There might not be payments but I've heard it's pretty painful for a while....

Glad you're back safe and sound and in one piece.

(And I'm with Jali...what do they do with the fat they suck out of you if you don't pay up in '09?)
