Surprise storm

Here's my Tuesday morning class. It was our last of the session, so we went out to breakfast together. It started snowing and though they were only calling for a couple of inches, we ended up with a foot plus hours and hours of freezing rain on top of it. I'll go out today and get more pics of the aftermath. After breakfast I walked down through the old city to the old port so I could stop in at the science museum gift shop. There are a couple kids on my list and I picked up a couple of gifts there.

Once the snow gets going, everything is quiet as if sound itself is sick and weak.

I loved walking around what are usually lively places and finding no one.

The boats are all gone for the season.

I made my way home and watched as the weather service maintained their prediction of temperatures rising to 40 degrees by this morning. They were dead wrong. It's 28 and still freezing rain. Halleluyah that my morning class canceled today as I won't have to navigate the treacherous sidewalks.

PS: My favorite comment yesterday was Don's. Oh did I get a chuckle out of that.

Wow, we got a few flurries on Saturday night that melted away the next morning but other than that, no snow at all so far.

I can't understand people who like snow. Sure it's pretty but it's so cold! It is slick and people have fender benders and the elderly fall and break their hips. Not so much fun now is it? ;) word verification: endsy. ed

I love Ed's comment (as usual!) snow is not my friend!

We got a big dump of it yesterday too...so much shoveling to do!

We had rain all day yesterday, which, of course, has now turned to a thick layer of ice.

I love the snow in December. It's so beautiful and changes the entire feel of the city.

Once January comes, though: get me outta here!

Fantastic winter shots! And, say, that class looks awfully smart and sassy!

Actually, when it snows it tends to be warmer.

Also, Rich: you know you're really becoming a Quebecer when you say "session" instead of "term."

2 hours. That's how long it took me to drive the 4 kms to my home last night. Stupid weather.

I love how quiet snow makes places too. I first moved to NYC just six hours before the big blizzard of '96. My initial impressions of Manhattan were a tad bit misleading (I did know it at the time).

I need to go to Montreal or Ottawa for a week-end and be in a true winter city.
