You asked for it

The little ditty I hammered out on the weekend is pretty fresh, but I still have to play it everyday so I don't forget it. Spouse has been through this routine before. As I was playing yesterday before dinner, he started giggling and making remarks. "All your songs sound the same, like they are from the 70's." The more I protested, the more he laughed. Oh well, I play for myself. I have no grand delusions of professional playing (though I did pinch hit for the lobby pianist at the Hyatt one long ago Easter) nor do I consider myself an accomplished tunesmith. My playing is often referred to as "banging" but whatever. It's just a fun creative outlet for me. Kinda like this blog.

Your "banging" is wonderful. :-)

I'm not laughing. I'm impressed!

That was all quite nice, Torn. Have you ever submitted any of your original compositions to publishers?

that was awesome! love it!

It does sound like something from the 1970s, but it sounds really sweet. You should add some lyrics to it - for serious folks!

Bravo! Bravo! I loved them both! You are a man of many talents, Torn. I didn't know the name of the last song was Meditation, but it made me relax. It was way too short. I could listen for hours. Thanks Torn.

I like!!!!!!!
That first one does have a 70s feel to it...
And pinch hitting must have been fun.

Thanks for the vantage point. I love watching people's hands as they play, especially from a side view.

I'm impressed. I love how completely casual you were too.

Aww. That was cozy. Much better than ...oh... studying anatomy, too.

You just serenaded my breakfast. Lovely.

It's much more talent than I ever had with music. Good show!

Nice little ditty -- all it needs is a "bridge" and you're all set!

I also enjoyed your performance of "Meditation". I love Brazilian/Jobim music.

Thanks for sharing!

Very Karen Carpenterish, I love it!

I'va always wanted to play something, but I have no patience.

The second one, is that the song you put your NB Holiday photos to?

Add another talent to your ever growing list...

I thought both songs were great. I wish I had half that talent you do on the piano.

My honey bangs the keys too....he writes all of these songs that just 'come to him'. It's really cool to hear you play....you're great! thanks for sharing your talents with us. Very very cool.

I am REALLY impressed! That is very nice - well played, nicely phrased... I expected Dionne Warwick to come in and sit next to you and run her fingers through your hair... your "piano posture" is excellent - Mrs. Whitman my piano teacher would have approved...

that was great! i can't carry a note i song or play any instrumnet so your two songs seem like quite the accomplishment. keep entertaining, even if its just an outlet.

I enjoyed the piano playing. I liked the songs, they sounded fun and well-played. Whoever directed your music video needs a little work on framing their subject though...

You're a virtuoso, TW!

Where I am I had to watch it on silence- but even your playing's good with the sound off, nice filming!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps I'll locate myself somewhere I can actually listen to it properly

Put techno beat behind it and you could quite possibly have the next gay bar dance hit! That was actually quite fun to listen to

I'll have a rum and coke and the lady here will have a white wine spritzer. Do you know "Melancholy Baby?"

Enjoy. I played classical piano for twelve years but I could never noodle on a piano like that and just make things up. That's a real skill.

I didn't even know you played the piano. Pretty impressive. Looks like you enjoy it.

Will you put words to the song?

Very nice. I enjoyed those two pieces.. I love piano music. Are you familiar with the work of Danny Wright?
